I set him up with a few cellphones at my store and he often comes back talks boxing etc. Funny though I had never heard of him until he told me he boxed. He mentioned he was having a fight soon (already passed the Ugas fight) I missed it unfortunately but I just finished reading the RBR and it doesn't sound like he did that well. He seemed like a nice guy who works and trains hard. Is he bad, okay, can you see him improving and becoming really good?
He's not bad. He definitely works hard and shows up to fight. I thought he lost against Ugas, but Ugas is pretty damn good himself. He needs to improve his defense, bad. Other than that, pretty good fighter.
Thx for the response! I saw him walking by my store the other day and hadn't realized his fight had already passed, he seemed to still be recovering lol... He mentioned Top Rank was looking into possibly signing him. I'm not sure how their view on him has changed since his fight however. He really is a nice guy hope the best for him. :good
Yeah I would not go as far as to call the kid bad. That Ugas fight was close and could of gone either way to be honest with you. Garcia gots a hell of a work rate and can take a shot! Ugas landed some solid ones on Garcias but the kid just pressed on firing back. Like Englund above posted, he does need to improve on his defense. If he can, he can definetly make a name for himself. Mention that to him next time you see him.
He lives in Holland, MI now. I see him at least once a week. He trains in Grand Rapids. http://boxrec.com/list_bouts.php?human_id=529199&cat=boxer
