Left hook, right hand by Ibarra - backing Montes up with head shots. Left hook to the body by Ibarra. Now Montes takes over, and presses Ibarra back to the ropes again. Familiar territory. Ibarra is able to skirt off. The ref warns them both for stray shots to the back of the skull. Montes hops on his toes. The crowd is inexplicably booing, because the pace slowed slightly. Ibarra throws a right to the body. Montes pushes him into a corner with left hooks downstairs. Montes is crab-walking in, squatting down very low and targeting the body. Ibarra doesn't know what to do with him; can't keep him off. BIG left rips to the body by Montes. Ibarra stands pat against the ropes, covering his head. Montes jabs into the guard. Big 1-2 by Montes! Ibarra blocks and leans back against the ropes. Counter hooks by Ibarra, buzzing past Montes' head. Sloppy left to the body by Ibarra, very wide and leaving him open. Montes backs him up with a lunging combo.

Round 4

Montes circles to his left, now right, left, right. Ibarra slaps his way in - underhanded shots to the body. HARD right drilled over the top by Montes to put Ibarra back in a corner. Big left hooks to the body. Montes is going berserk!! Big shots all over the place!! All Ibarra can do is cover up and flick out a counter here and there. Too brave for his own good! Montes is a juggernaut! They trade hooks and their arms crash and ricochet off one another. Montes is pumping that right hand coming forward. Now he doubles a jab in front of it. Ibarra is covering up, backing up to the ropes, trying to push out a few shots and getting his licks in but few and far between compared to Montes'. Ibarra lunges with some rights, falling in and getting hooked in the head by Montes. Big right hand by Ibarra! Exchange with ten seconds left.

Round 5

Both jabbing and circling. Both warned for headbutts. Ibarra covers up and drifts around to his left. Montes is cutting the ring off, looking for openings to the body. High 1-2 by Montes. Ibarra blocks and trots to the ropes. 1-2 through the guard by Montes. Ibarra backs him off with a right. BIG RIGHT HAND LEAD by Montes. Ibarra covers up and walks through the fire storm as Montes starts hooking away up high. Ibarra is coming forward now. Overhand rights from Ibarra. Now he circles out to his right. Now to the left. Montes is coming forward, jabbing and crossing. Hard overhand rights by Montes, putting Ibarra back on the ropes. Montes circles and hooks. Flush jab by Ibarra.

Montes was gesturing to the ref that he needs to warn or sanction Ibarra for excessive use of his elbows/forearms when jabbing.

 

Round 6

Montes is jabbing and moving more now, a different look. Ibarra is throwing overhand rights and wild left hookercuts coming forward, and Montes is playing the counter-puncher while dancing around him. Hooks and overhands from Montes, too. He can't resist mixing it up a bit. Montes is landing long jabs as Ibarra comes forward. Ibarra gets his guard up but isn't keeping everything out. Uppercut by Ibarra. Montes dances off to his left and sticks the jab. Ibarra walks forward, takes a jab between the gloves. Combo by Ibarra, blocked. Big up and down flurry by Montes. Wild exchange, with both missing.

Ibarra is coming forward throwing big right hands, trying to boss Montes and refusing to be the one put on the ropes this round...
