Laporte can't win this. Villasana swarms over him and outpunches him ten to one. Neither guy is getting stopped but Marcos wins fairly wide.

The answer is obviously a double KO.

Anyone else basically just see these two as Featherweight George Chuvalo? Obviously they're both better, but you get what I'm saying.

This might be the ultimate Monitor vs. Merrimack encounter

Yeah, I was wondering after thinking that Villasana might have had the best chin in FW history. I mean, just for tanking the hellacious beating Fenech put on him puts him in that conversation for me, but then you have the fights vs Nelson (who I regard as a massive puncher, and I'm fairly certain most do too), Mercado & Garza. In the Hodkinson and Esparragoza fights he took tons too.

    I'm a big fan.

Villasana was actually stopped by Mario Miranda - the same Miranda that Laporte beat the sh!t out of to win the title.

It was very early in Villasana's career though, and I've never seen the fight on film.

Villasana indeed had a granite chin.

Wasn't that on cuts? There was another stoppage IIRC, but it was on an injury.

Laporte had better skills but he often fought lazy for lack of a better term. When he was highly motivated ie against Pedroza, Chavez and Nelson he performed suprisingly well although he lost all three of those fights. Laporte would have no problem hitting Villisana but he has to he motivated and busy to beat the indefatigable Villisana. Anything less then he gets outhustled. Laporte has the ability to win this but my guess is he would be outhustled.
