More like Marquez is ducking a murder charge. Soto doesn't deserve a fight with jmm especially since he was owned in his last fight.

I like Soto. He's had a good career. He's been entertaining. He has a passionate fan base in Mexico. But, I never thought he was worth ducking.

Marquez vs Soto is a much bigger fight and would generate more.
Marquez vs Soto is PPV material.

What Soto has done as a lighweight, is unlike any other Lighweight has ever done in the history of boxing, and that is: HUMBERTO SOTO HAS SCARED ALL THE OTHER LIGHWEIGHTS INTO NOT FIGHTING HIM.

Just look at what Jorge Linares and Robert Guerrero did in their last fights (on the JMM-Juan Diaz rematch undercard, 7/31/10), to avoid fighting Soto.

They both ducked Soto, like this:

WBC Contender-Linares jumped to the Lighwyweight division and fought Soto's "leftovers" (Rocky Juarez) in a (get this:lol:) 10 ROUNDER, instead of fighting Soto??

WBC Contender-Robert Guerrero JUMPED 2 WEIGHT DIVISIONS (skipping the Lightweight Division:lol:), from 130lbs to 140lbs, to fight an Old Casamayor in a 10-Round regular 140lbs fight, to avoid fighting Soto.

When Soto was at 130lbs, in 2008, he wanted to fight Robert Guerrero, Jorge Linares, Pacman, Marquez, Barrera, Morales, and they ALL DUCKED HIM.

They DUCKED him then, and they DUCK him now.

Soto had Guzman scared for his life.

Soto had Guzman running for most of the fight.

If you've seen Guzmans' other fights, he walks right through his opponents.

With Soto, Guzman tried trading with Soto the fisrt 2 rounds, than could not handle Soto's power anymore, so Guzman intentionaly fouled SOto with a deliberate low blow in the 3rd, then Guzman ran like a scared chicked for the rest of the fight.
AT times, Guzman would literally, turn his back (like a woman), against Soto, to prevent Soto from punching him.
Other times Guzman would grab and hold to escape Soto.

That wasn't boxing. That was the most cowardly act by Guzman.

Soto fought Guzman, at a time, when Guzman was in his prime, and also ducked by Pacman, MAB, JMM and others too.

Soto won that fight, but was ROBBED!

Marquez is a smart businessman. He knows that much more people will watch the fight against Katsidis, because it's a much more exciting fight, and Katsidis is also a more exciting fighter than Soto.

Marquez vs. Katsidis has the potential to be FOTY!!!!!!! and how AWESOME would it be for Marquez to be in TWO fights of the year back-to-back!!! :yep

    1. Katsidis is the more exciting matchup. He's as well known if not moreso than Soto. The styles match up perfectly, so the money makes sense.

    2. Katsidis was very impressive in his last fight, which as many have pointed out can not be said about Soto. From a competitive standpoint, he deserves the shot more.

    3. He is the WBO Mandatory, which they enforced. Enforced.

    Where does Soto even compare?

The man is begging for a third fight with Pacquiao in his old age after seeing him demolish light welters and welters left and right, and made the foolhardy but brave decision to give up every advantage he had against Floyd at welterweight simply for a shot at the former number 1 P4P...and you think this man is ****ing scared of Soto? Please. Go see a doctor.
