Actually I don't think Cotto will be the bigger man on fight night. I believe 150 is Cotto' best weight. He will come in @152 maximum because he will work on movement not pressure. Mayweather is likely to come at the same weight. Cotto was a stalker earlier in his career but he has never been the best at it therefore he will have to be very smart in there and not try to emulate Castillo fight plan.

I recall Marquez landing some lead right hands early in the fight. I remember being surprised how well Marquez caught him when watching the fight live. Throughout the course of the entire fight, he landed more clean head shots than I saw Mosley and Ortiz land.

JMM definately has the right to comment on Cotto's chances and I for one agree with what he says.

Only thing is, when reading his tips on paper it just appears as though your reading a standard gameplan, something Cotto just needs to stick to have a chance. It's completely different when your inside there and realise that your fastest, lightest, best timed jab can't even find the target against Mayweather. We all think "oh as long as Cotto doesn't get disheartened he's in with a chance," very much easier said than done, although Cotto does have a warrior's heart which might just maintain that ultra slim chance.

All I'm thinking is how Mayweather will beat him. I think we all presume he's just going to employ his standard 12 round wide UD boxing clinic tactic, but I think he might just discard that and attempt to emulate a margarito/pacquiao pressure style of win with huge output. I think the guy's got tools we've never seen and he might just whip em out against Cotto.

People are mixingup having some success with winning rounds.
Just because JMM landed shots does not mean he won rounds, he still landed more clean punches on Floyd though than i have seen anyone do in quite a while.

Due to Cotto's physical attributes i think JMM is completely right, Cotto's reach is too short and speed too slow to outwaite Mayweather.
He will need to follow the Castillo blueprint and just be as physical and active as possible.

It most likely won't be enough but it gives him the best chance i think.
Cotto tends to fade late vs high activity fighters but Mayweather is not active at all, so if Cotto can find his body attack that he used to be famous for he could make it interesting.

Also ill take Marquez insights and knowledge over any of the keyboard warriors here.
The man is a walking textbook on how to throw perfect shots in combinations and a brilliant counter puncher.

I definitely agree with what you've said, but it wouldn't be unwise to mix it up and try to avoid an easy adjustment from Floyd by utilizing the style he's adopted more recently. If Floyd starts coming forward and can be caught reaching while Cotto circles, he can disrupt his rhythm and win some rounds that way. But intelligent pressure, of course, is the primary game-plan. Cotto keeps bringing up the Mosley fight; I think that's an excellent frame to work within.

Be sure Cotto covers more coz he eats a lot of uppercuts like peanuts.
