I personally think his offensive footwork will be the issue, he wont be able to shut Gamboa down quick enough, deny him space & time, which will mean Gambo will have time to get off first, get in and out, and use his legs, therefore the speed advantage will be pivotal, that said, if Gambo takes too much of whats there when using those raiding tactics, gets embroiled in a fight, can see him getting hurt.
Its only natural for Cubans to root for Cuban fighters, Boricuas to root for our fighters Mexicans for their fighters. I am trying to be as unbiased as I can regarding this fight and my opinion is that this is a 50/50 fight because I still have unanswered questions about Gamboa. I do have a feeling that the deeper the fight goes the more in favor of JML is going to be. Could I be wrong? maybe but if I am then that means that Gamboa answered my questions.
both are good fighters, and both lack defensive skills. I think stamina will be the deciding factor in this fight. Juanma tends to slow down toward the second half of fights. Gamboa may be able to take advantage of that if he doesn't get caught rushing in. Over all a good fight.
Gamboa's poor balance will just jump him into Juanma's straight left and that will be the story. Gamboa has been down alot and that has more to do with balance than being hurt. I think Gamboa has a good chin. I just see him jumping in square and getting put on his ass alot, in route to a Juanma Decision.
fans will be fans and i include myself as a boxing fan.. i like juanma not just because he's puertorrican but because he's humble unlike cotto and vazquez jr.. people like to say juanma is overrated and that his hasnt fought the best but if you objectiviley look at caballero, gamboa and juanmas careers you'll see that juanma has the best resume :hat
I agree, JuanMa is too slow, too easy to hit to beat Gamboa. Plus, Gamboa's stamina is A+ meaning that he actually gets better at the later rounds. Lopez tends to fade in the late rounds. It will be a very competitive fight but no doubt Gamboa will prevail either by TKO/KO or by UD.
JuanMa humble? :huh Lopez has been talking bad about Gamboa as of lately in saying, " he still needs to learn more, he is not at my level, he still drops his hands, he has many flaws and I will beat him on June to show the World who is the best 126 pounder ". Is that humble ? :-( In the meantime, Gamboa is very nice as I have never heard him putting down Lopez, he has only said, " I know that he is not better than me and I can beat him " that's all. As a matter of fact, Gamboa is one of the nicest and most humble boxers out there, and that deserves a lot of credit because he is an extremely talented athlete. :good
