Is your view of his skills/talent more favorable or less favorable after his performance tonight?

He has all of the skills, for sure.

    Even showed a good chin.

Although I think that it was a poor idea (at least for future fights) in throwing so many power punches against a guy who was definitely not going to go down...JML looked exhausted in a few short moments in there and a different fighter may have been able to take advantage of that.

He also shouldn't have thrown defense to the wind like that. Boxing only takes one punch...

he answered several questions for me:

    1) his stamina is good...he threw 1000+ punches in 9 rounds! so him doing a Taylor in later rounds against other world champions should not be an issue
    2) he took a few counter licks pretty well. Still needs to shore up a little on the counter defense, but he showed a good chin when needed.
    3) he is a MASTER in the ring, in terms of command. His technique and ring generalship is outstanding, and better than I thought.
    4) if it was someone other than penalosa, this fight would have been over before 5, so he did a great job.

all and all, I give him a B+/A- ... had some holes in his defense during counters, but that can be worked on.

I think with the right trainer (Floyd) he could become even more unstoppable.

    More Favorable.

My biggest question was his stamina and he proved that to me.

Although he did get hit flushed cleanly more times than I expected, no one else at 122 has much of a chance IMO.

I give him an A-/B+. He sure is the next big thing, still needs a lot of improvement but he'll be great for sure

The guy can trow to the body very good too, a weak liver fighter like Gonzalez are in big trouble with him.

i still do not agree that gerry is limited. he throws all the punches in the book, he just ran with a young hungry special fighter named juan manuel lopez who is a freaking monster at superbantamweight

you should watch his tokuyama and cho fights again. those fights i think should have gone either way

An equal view option would have been good too. But from those options I'd say more favorable.

Although he did get hit cleanly, he only did so after landing so many monstrous punches of his own. Any other man who got hit by those punches would not have had the chance to retaliate.
