In a division headed by two great but probably shop worn fighters in Marquez and Vazquez. Theres a new kid on the block, a slick, power punching, south paw Puerto Rican dynamo called Juanma. Jaunma Lopez with some of the sweetest right hooks you will ever see from a south paw in any division, has positioned himself nicely to clean out the division.

Well, maybe I am getting a little ahead of myself. But you cant blame me for getting excited about the possibility of seeing him in there with Vazquez or Marquez or even Caballero.

He provided it us with a healthy dose of a shock an awe with his first round annihilation of battle tested, power punching, former WBO champ, Daniel Ponce de Leon. A guy that was known for his toughness, as much as for his power punching. Honestly, I really don't think that the Marquez and Vazquez camps are to excited about taking a fight with this kid, but they will if the money is right. The thing is the money might not be right for another fight or two. So we wait.

At 5'7'' he has a 2" height advantage over Rafa and Izzy and probably a reach advantage as well. The main thing is that scary concussive power. He might just holds significant advantages over the two great Mexican warriors in every major category. Another thing that is still up in the air, is how much have their epic battles taken out of each of these guys? Hopefully we will get answers to these question soon. The money might just be there to get this "Super" super bantam weight fight on and popping in the next year. Like Chris Brown, Juanma might be a young phenom!

It surprises me that you could be that sure! Can you give him some credit and respect, I am sure Marquez and Izzy will.

There are definitely way more experienced than Lopez, and they are the epitome of a what a true warrior is. The three fights that they had, made up the most exciting trilogy since Morales vs. Barrera. What else can you expect when you put two bas ass Mexican worldclass boxers in an ring and let them get to work on each other!

But we just dont know, at what cost those very special 25 rounds come??

Lopez is the real deal. I think he could beat Vasquez and Marquez, infact I'm quite confident in it. Not that he neccessarily needs to be fighting them yet.

I know he's Young but he's a champ, and I don't want them to do what Berto's team is doing. I don't believe that you can be considered a champ and still be a work in progress. As a champ you are required to fight the best, or risk loosing creditbility. You can't have it both ways, in my oppinion. He said he wanted to fight Izzy after the De Leon fight

Well he's already fought one legit opponent to gain his title, so he's one step ahead of Berto...

I'm not suggesting he fight bums, but I don't see the urgency to be fighting Marquez or Vasquez just yet. Caballero maybe.

He has shown signs of greatness but who has he fought? Besides a defensive handicap in de leon nobody. Marquez and Vasquez will are much more experienced and have fought better opposition so rushing lopez to fight them will be absurd in my opinoin if your a lopez fan.

You are right about that, but if he beat one of them in the next year it would give him a great head start in a potential path to greatness, at only 25. Like you said, I am pretty confident that he could beat them. I think he is actually ready for them.

Perhaps. I'm just one that likes to be better safe than sorry when a guys only fought one limited guy at the top level and has little experience of styles. But at the same time if the wars have taken anything out of them now might be the perfect time to catch them and get the credit, before somebody else does.

Exactly! But it would be a pretty huge risk this early in his career, no doubt.

With huge risks come huge rewards. I guess I am the riskier type of person.

You are crazy if you think he is ready for Rafa and Izzy. Its kind of like how Pac fans are going crazy over him beating Diaz.
PDL is like a Diaz except PDL actually has power. He is slow and wild with his punches and his defense is horrible. I have always said he is a KO waiting to happen and it finally did happen. Rafa and Izzy are so many levels above PDL its crazy.
I think rafa outboxes JML for 12 rounds and Izzy would probably stop him by wearing him out. You forget these two fighters are top 10 p4p fighters while JML really has not proven much except for beating PDL.

    What if he gets "Vargased"?
Would you want that to happen to a potential star?
I think he should fight the other "top" 122 pounders like Molitor and Caballero. But stay away from Izzy and Rafa for now. If he proves he can hang with those guys then step up but until now. No.
