I understand he is some what unproven, and it will take a fight or two more to make the fight happen anyway. He wants the fight as a true fighter should an I beleive that 90% of the time a fighter knows what he can and can't do.

So I say send him in and let's see what happens. From what I have seen, he looks like he could do it.

You must have seen more than I have then. And yes i had only heard of him and saw him in the ring with PDL but its kind of a bad way to measure someone with a limited fighter like PDL.
Has he beaten anyone else thats decent??

No one on PDL's level but he has gome some rounds with other top 20-30 guys and he can box as well as punch. Much different than PDL who is more of s slugger.

I agree Pharaoh. This is probably the best division in boxing in terms of excitement. Considering most of the fighters here could also move into the feather division and create very exciting fights. 147 is good and so is 135 but 122 just has potential FOTY in almost every top match up fights.

That is probably the best course of action, we definitely don't want another Vargas situation on our hands. Although he is 25 and Vargas was 22, so he is a bit more mature. I am just speaking as a fan, but it would be a ballsy management decision no matter how you slice it.

molitor would be a very good measuring stick for him, if he can get past molitor then he proves himself ready for the top dogs(izzy/rafa) but I'm not so sure he gets past molitor at all, in fact at this point I see molitor using his ring smarts and discipline to outbox him to a significant UD.

I don't think he'll lose to them even once if they fight 5 times. Vazquez and Marquez gave us unbelievable wars, but they have some serious vulnerabilities that Juanma could take advantage of in a big way (Rafa.. chin and size, Vazquez.. chin and big styles disadvantage against a slick southpaw counterpuncher like Lopez). The only thing they could hope for is him not having a sturdy chin. Lopez just has too much for them. Too much power, too much size, too much talent, and enough skill. Rafa presents a bigger challenge to him because of styles, but I doubt he will be able to deal with Juanma's power.. who will be landing more than Vazquez was in their fight, with more powerful punches that are more difficult to see coming IMO.

Molitor would also be a good opponent in the future, perhaps a fight with him would be even more competitive than fights with Marquez/Vazquez. He's a very solid boxer who's consistent and looks to be improving.
