Juan Manuel Lopez prior to his fights with Penalosa and Mtagwa looked indestructible.

I know he dominated Gerry, however in the later rounds after throwing everything he looked exhausted. I wondered was this due to the fact that he thought Penalosa was being dominated and was no threat or Juan's conditioning? At the time of the fight I considered him the best fighter in his weight. I did not think any less of him after the fight. However, after watching him fight Mtagwa I began to question his ability to excel throughout 12 rounds.

In the Mtagwa fight Juan Manuel bit off more than he could handle. This time it was evident that Juan Manuel's defense and conditioning (pacing) are problematic. Hit for hit Mtagwa slowly and exposed the holes in Juan's armor. How would Juan Manuel look against Rocky Juarez, Concepcion, or Caballero if they were able to take him to the later rounds?

well, the thing about juarez is that he doesn't throw enough. he has the ability to hurt good fighters, but he has yet to finish them (barrera, marquez, john). i haven't seen enough of concepcion, who has only had one fight at featherweight. caballero on the otherhand was in real bad trouble against the african fighter he faced a while back. i remember him gassing as well, but stylistically caballero would be tough for him.

To be fair, Fernando Vargas had issues the first time he went a full 12 rounds or so.

It takes a while to acclimate yourself to the sort of pace he throws at people for 12 rounds. If I see a lapse against Luevano then I think we can point it out as a problem.

Juanma is going to remind yall why he was such a hot comodity last year this Saturday night. When he destroys Luevano people will stop questioning his conditioning and ability. I was at the matagwa fight and he looked bad, but that will be a very valuable learning experience.

WELL as we all can see, your love for juanma, kinda blinds you a little..dont count luevano out just yet,but to be honest ,i cant see juanma beating caballero, let alone vasquez or even marquez(rafa)...but if he gets past luevano,he wont fight big name,i dont think until 2011.....we'll see!

I don't think he looked exhausted against Penalosa. Penalosa had a granite chin and refused to go down.

juanma himself and his corner admitted that they made many mistakes in his fight against mtagwa. he stated that they will work on fixing those mistakes and have made the necessary adjustments!

The biggest mistake was taking it. Sounds like excuses to me. Juan Manuel did not look to his boxing skills to get himself out of the hole. Under pressure he is going to opt to exchange, it is in his nature; but, I don't fault him for it the Mtagwa fight was a good fight to watch.

You touched a very important point. But keep in mind Juanma had been asking to go up to 126lbs for 3 fights now. Bob Arum always said one more. I am expecting to see a stronger Juanma this Saturday. Hopefully

This could of been the reason why he looked so bad against Rodgers. I think Luevano will give him alot of problem, being that Luevano is a southpaw with good technique and boxing skills. It's going to come down to who gots better ring intelligence. :bbb I expect a good boxing fight!

He completely dominated Penalosa. It was obvious he was gonna slow down as the fight progressed because he was keeping a high pace early on.
Gerry did show some of his defensive liabilities catching him coming in a few times.

With Mtagwa I think making weight zapped his stamina in the later rounds.
Plus Mtagwa made him fight his fight ore than Lopez would have wanetd.
