well maybe it's too soon to judge. We can't really say anything until he faces a true challenge like any of those two great warriors vazquez or marquez.
How about a match with Jerry Penalosa? A tough veteran fighter. Who would validate Lopez' skills, one way or the other. A tough fighter who defeated the before mentioned Gonzalez.
Juanma Boxing skills are yet to be tested. No doubt. But the kid hits damn hard. Celestino Caballero beat PDL. But Juanma did it in 1 round. The last 10 Marquez fights(since 2003) have only 6 opponents. Also Caballero is 32, Marquez is 33, Vazquez 31, Juanma is 25. I think he is the future of the division.
After watching Vazquez vs Marquez I and II on Espn Classic this past saturday afternoon, IMHO Juanma can beat Israel.
Juanma said that he expects those fights to last much longer than one round...but is confident he will prevail. Don't expect the Vasquez fight anytime soon....though they both want to trade leather....Vasquez has an eye surgery and will need much time to recover....according to El Nuevo Dia in Puerto Rico. I lean towards Juanma in a mid-fight KO.
Lopez should fight Caballero for a shot at Vasquez. Eye surgery takes ages to recover from - shouldn't be anywhere near a boxing ring for at least a year.
How many 1st round KO's does Marquez have? Also, you don't see Lopez get outboxed...very clever oponent to contend with.
