Gamboa takes out Lopez in 6 rounds. If fights does go further, Lopez has a good chance of getting judges' decision.
Look fellas I was at the fight and I am Puerto Rican. I was also there in October and when Junama fought Mtagwa and saw what Gamboa did tonight. All I have to say is WOW at Gamboa's raw power talent and speed. Conventional wisdom would tell that Gamboa"s too fast and hits too hard for Lopez. Lopez was sharp tonight and although he got hit a little too much, he was in there against a champion and a B+ fighter and he was very accurate and KO'ing a guy like Luevano is impressive as well. One thing to remember Mtagwa weight 122 pounds tonight and Juanama looked way more comfortable at 126 against a top notch guy than he did in his last fight when he looked a little out if shape and weight drained. I think Lopez has the experience, accuracy and power to **** all over conventional wisdom and the speed and power that Gamboa brings. If i was betting money I would have to go with Gamboa, but a Lopez KO would not surprise me at all. Lopez is tight with his shots and a monster when he has you hurt. Lopez needs to work on his defense. Honestly I think that they should both fight one more time before they meet I want to see Gamboa against a 126lbs tite holder and Juanma should fight Caballero at 126 next who he wil beat. Then make the fight or Juanma should defend and let Gamboa fight Caballero next then set up the fight. my two cents
Gamboa looked goooood tonight, more like a calm, patient counterpuncher than the ape**** wild brawler he has been. If he can retain that demeanor against tougher competition he's going to be hard to beat.
I was really impressed with Gamboa tonight, Lopez looked kinda good too and fought a tougher opponent. But you just see the difference in Speed and Gamboa is not only lightning quick hes a beast in terms of strength. I think Lopez could beat a lot of good fighters, but it aint happening against Gamboa. Gamboa ko 5 probably sooner.
amazing how most of you kids are picking gamboa by KO .. i'm not saying its not possible but logically lopez by KO is the call. gamboa is my top 5 fav fighters and i'll be rootin for him but he's got so many goddamn flaws that juanma can capitalize on its ridiculous. basing this fight on styles, i got lopez by KO early-mid rounds.
Gamboa all day everyday the glass chin thing is null and void since it was more due to bad balance then anything else and he was up in 1 to 2 seconds without shaky legs each time. With experience Gamboa has become a calmer fighter, he's no longer wild and technically speaking Gamboa's is faster and sharper and technically or by the book better. To be honest Lopez got highly over-rated as having it all when he knocked out a wild as hell De Leon. No i am not basing this off the Mtagawa performances or however you spell his name fights between the two, I just see Gamboa as the better fighter and the one who's becoming more complete with every fight where as with Lopez he's still the same and has showed his flaws and hasn't improved on any of them and I dont think he ever will if they fight I fully expect Gamboa to stop Lopez probably by the 7th round.
I'm Puerto Rican as well but you have to put that nationalistic stuff to the side and just admit that Gamboa would beat the **** out of Juanma, rather easily at that. And believe me Juanma is never going to fight Caballero who he is petrified of, Juanma like a ***** still avoids calling out Caballero's name. Juanma is just a solid world class fighter, Gamboa is going to be one of boxing's super elites, Gamboa is that ****ing good, Juanma is just okay at best.
my predictions last night came as 100% accurate...had some social events last night and watched the tape as soon as i got home... no surprises,Gamboa within 3 rds, and Lopez within 7...gamboa was impressive but Lopez looked good against a solid 126...i know Lopez will find himself comfy at 126,even 130...but he shoudnt aim for Gamboa yet, another fight against Rocky Juarez will be a good test. if they fight next im picking gamboa in 5
BENNY BLANCO, Gamboa's greatest win in his career so far is a guy with 13 losses. He's going to be one of the elite? When JuanMa is YOUNGER, and way more accomplished as a professional. JuanMa dominated one of the ELITE in the division and won a championship. Are you kidding me? JuanMa is proven and tested, theres a lot of question marks around Gamboa, and the only thing people are going by is pure ability, not ring tactics. I don't think either fighter will dominate each other. But its plain ignorant to only believe Gambo will KO Juan Manuel Lopez, LOPEZ has a good chin and he showed it in the Mtagwa fight. Who knows, Gamboa could look like Prince Naseem vs MAB and get exposed. Anything can happen. I'm just laughing at you guys doubting the better man from Saturday night. JuanMa won a championship, moved up in weight and did it in style. Realistically, all Gamboa had was JuanMa's sloppy seconds and a very weak looking Mtagwa, was not impressed at all by him. Sounds like I'm taking credit away from YG, but just stating the truth. Gamboa has to fight atleast 3 elite guys before he comes to JuanMa. JuanMa should go after CC or Chris John to certify himself.
