To me he is obviously too small at welterweight but how would he handle Jr Welterweight? He is tough enough to go the distance with a full size welterweight with mega speed. How does he do against the Jr Welterweights?

I think that lightweight would be better for JMM. He could have some success at 140 but he would be beaten by the best guys out there.

He is a better fit a lightweight. I just wonder if he could take a belt at Jr Welterweight.

jmm loses too much of his speed at 142 which is not to far off junior welter. at 135, he had beaten juan diaz and casa but not without struggling first. we all know that jmm has been most effective at 126 and 130. i don't think he will be as good at 140 though imo, he could beat campbell at this weight.

he could still do very well at 140lbs, its his power at the higher weight thats bothering me..he could do with his speed..still a top contender tho.

That's how i feel. He shouldn't be fighting over 135.

Without his power I don't think he would do very well at 140. Similar to 135 I think he's slower and easier to hit @140 but the difference is that at 135, he still had the power to stop his opponents. And given his counter punching skills, the power was enough to get him a win despite being slower and easier to hit. Without the power at 140, all he has is his skill which I don't think would be enough to make up for the disadvantages he has against the real junior welterweights.

I agree that JMM should go back down to Lightweight. In a sense he's already conquered the division; but there's plenty of competition still to be had down there. The main problem with 140 is that he wasn't particularly big even at 135, and got stunned by a pretty nothing puncher in Diaz. At 140 there area a lot of big, dense and solid fighters that might just be that bit too big and strong.

135 I think is best for him. But unfortunately there aren't too many big names down there that he could take on. 140 is where it's at

he could do well at 140 but truth is i think he could still make 130 comfortably so i think he'll be better suited for 135 where he is still the champ

If JMM was in his prime, he wouldn't have any problems going to lightweight. At this stage of his career, 135 would be ideal for him.

Anything over 135 should be avoided for him at this moment. At 140 he could be competitive and have some success, but I just dont see him ruling this division at all. He still has many good names out there that could attract people with opponents such as Valero, Funeka, Guzman, and others.

I see him having some success but not ruling at Light Welterweight, maybe winning 1 belt and defending it but thats about it.
