It might explain also why Pac won more rounds in the second fight than in the first fight?

Had Marquez stayed up in the first fight instead of putting his ass 3 times in a single round, he could have handily won the fight. Whereas in the second fight, the knockdown was actually the determining factor in most peo[ple who scored it a win for Pac.

So the logic does not have any merits.

Besides, Pac throws his right hands more frequently now and with power as well. If they are thinking it is easier to fight a one handed fighter, wait until they fight a two handed fighter with power in both hands. The right hand had knocked down fighters who were bigger than JMM.

True, but JMM didn't get knocked down 3 times in the second fight. He took the token one KD. JMM also won at least 6 rounds without question 4 years after Pacquiao had improved so much. That gap of improvement was certainly more vast than the gap between JMM2 in 2008 and now. Not to mention Pacquiao simply isn't as fast at this weight.

His improved counter-right hand will be a problem but he it was there during the second fight-not as sharp but it was there-and he is aware of it's improvements. The only people it knocked down were aggressive Hatton, and mixed in combination against Cotto. JMM himself has been making some defensive adjustments as well as he adapts to his aging body.

I don't favor JMM to win, don't get me wrong, I just think that if JMM is honest with himself about his own changes as well as Pac's, there's no reason he can't give us a great fight again.

truth right here. Pac going buck wild against JMM would be playing right into his hands. By fighting JMM's fight (technical) he has a lot to overcome but he can still use his speed and power to get in and get out before the counter or to counter himself and at least he isn't as tailor made for him. JMM loves fighters that come charging at him.

I love that second Pac vs Marquez fight. Pac boxed with the master boxer and he looked damn good doing it. Although JMM will always have slightly better technical skills, Pac can utilize his power and speed to gain an advantage when he does get the upper hand in the boxing standoffs.

When Pac thinks he can just overrun JMM with power and speed is when JMM will eat him alive. And that first round they ever fought together isn't a very good reference because JMM had no idea what to expect.

I get what you're saying but if Pac fought rematch in the same wild way he did in the 1st fight, I'm pretty sure Marquez would have easily outboxed Pac the same way he did for most rounds in the 1st fight. He would have done even better than just winning 6 rounds. The only reason he got knocked down 3x the first fight was he wasn't expecting that speed, power and agression from Pac, but the moment he got used to it, he was able to think his way out of the predicament and started to time the reckless approach by Pac. From that point on, I don't think the reckless version of Pac would have gotten very far against JMM.

Those knockdowns in the first fight were fluke ones! That was just that JMM did not expect that speed. But from that round he adjusted very well.

in the second fight, Pac's skill got more polished that he was able to box with avey good boxer. In terms of rounds won, he pretty much went head to head with him.

there was a round per round comparison of punch stats and Pac actually came in 7 rounds to 5 rounds against JMM, meaning that he actually outconnected JMM in 7 of the 12 rounds with the major diffrence in round 8 (I think where the cut of Pac occurred and the idiot Divac scored it 10-8 in favor of JMM) whwer he out-connected Pac 19 - 9.

most of the rounds, the difference is no more than 5 punches. Pac was definitely connecting and no way outclassed, except that a counterpuncher will always look like he is connecting more clearly.

slow-mo review however would show that most of the punches were either blocked or evaded.

In conmtrast, the first fight, Pac seems not to solve JMM's counterpunching skills.

So the theory that the more Pac is multi-dimensional, the easier it is for JMM is just crap, subscribed only by posters are as idiotic as well.

Pacqiuao obviously boxed better and won more rounds, but to rely on his boxing because of a slight loss in speed might open different opportunities.

There were rounds in JMM 2 were Pac was just shut-out and controlled, and that happened less often in the first one. I'd say a smarter Pacquiao is overall a harder Pac to beat, but it has its advantages as well as its disadvantages. All depends on what JMM decides to do in there and what he prepares for.

Anyone who will post that youtube analysis debunking the claim on Pacman's improvement should get a slap from JMM.

The person from that youtube video makes a point (not sure which one you are talking about but the one I saw compared Cotto and JMM's reactions to the same assault). He was commenting on how Pacquiao lunges, and how you need to step back on your toes on the backfoot to counter, which Cotto hadn't prepared to do, in training or stylistically. Pacquiao does still do this, and JMM may still be prepared to respond accordingly.

To deny that he has improved would be false, but to claim he has improved drastically and transformed into an essentially different fighter would be an exaggeration.

We agree here......but its Pacquiao who put himself in that position. A 3rd fight should have happened 3 years ago......
....the fact that Marquez is now 3 years older getting closer to 40 years old, and and 3 divisions heavier, makes this a win win situation for Marquez.

Not only do I agree with you that Pacquiao's legacy gains nothing from a victory over Marquez now, but I'll take it even further than that.........Pacquiao's legacy actually will take a hit if Marquez beats him again.

A Marquez victory diminishes Pacquiao's accomplishments north of the lightweight divsion, and it magnifies what many inside of boxing have said, that Pacquiao in these higher weights has only been handpicking fighters with particular styles who have been coming off of losses.

Not only does Pacquiao not enhance his legacy with a win over Marquez, his legacy takes a major hit if he does'nt beat Marquez.

No question about it, Marquez has a free play down the field!:deal

    :yep

Wild left hand happy Pacquiao put more into his left hand as well.

There are so many more different countering opportunities that open up for Marquez when Pacquiao is utilizing both his left and right hand.

Mark my words......the left hook to the body by Marquez opens up for him when Pacquiao throws his right hook.

The ******* is going to wonder why all of a sudden Pacquiao will stop throwing his right hand, the left hook to the body will be the reason!:bbb
