No doubting his offensive skillset, but he does gets too much credit for an ordinary resume. His contemporaries surely would get rated down far more than he is if they had the same resume.
"very little screams of robbery..." youre wrong buddy. most experts immediately after the fight openly stated that they believed marquez had won the fight. where were u? it was close but marquez won. he showed he was a class higher in the skills department. i dont understand why pac got the decision. it boggles the mind. based on marquezs performance alone in that fight, no one can say that he is overrated. no way.
Close fights aren't robberies, and the majority of experts were in agreement that although they may have scored it for the Mexican by a point or two, it's conceivable that the decision could have been awarded either way. That is not a robbery, not by definition. If a fighter has outclassed his opponent then that implies he has won a lot more rounds than him, and he has landed a lot more leather on him. That wasn't the case with Juan Manuel Marquez vs Manny Pacquiao II. Nobody was out-classed. I think JMM is overrated.
imo if there is a clear winner and he doesnt get the decision he got robbed. i dont care if it was close. if someone clearly wins but doesnt get the decision, he was robbed. hopkins pascal was close on the scorecards but bhop clearly won so i say he was robbed. same thing here. someone doesnt necessarily have to win many more rounds to outclass another boxer. marquez boxed better: he outclassed pacquiao. im not saying hes 4 or 5 classes higher than him. maybe just one class or half a class.
JMM has very decent claims for having two wins of Pacquiao. Saying he had those two scalps on his resume his record under 140 would be incredible. That is why he's rated so highly... as people arent naive enough to leave their opinions of a fighter in the hands of fight judges (friends of Arum)
first of all JMM is one of the most skilled boxers i've seen but... he's on a cherry picking spree lately. blatantly refused (ducked) ro fight khan... then rematched an overrated fighter he has already KOed and then fought another overrated brawler in katsidis. Priced himself out again with pac... And now he's fighting Erik "****ing" Morales? WTF? besides his draw and lost to pac what were his legacy fights/wins? barrera? lol
JMM overrated? What fantasy world do you boxing fans live in? If jmm is overrated then im not exactly sure what a great fighter is.
The majority of people recently voted him as the best Mexican fighter among the three amigo's. That would certainly qualify as overrating him. I am not necessarily saying he isn't a world class fighter, but he's overrated. It's irrefutable.
the majority of peoples opinion on some stupid poll determines a fighters worth? personally, i think morales was the better fighter, but that doesnt diminish jmm as a fighter. if jmm is overrated, perhaps boxing fans should reevaluate their "overrating" standards
