He is one of the great mexican fighters of his era based on his performances in the ring.

 

Rate JMM just behind MAB and El Terible. High but not as high as those two, who sacrificed longevity to give us the greatest boxing show modern television has to offer.

Putting JMM below MaB and El Terible does not equate to shitting on him.

 

And your only acceptable explanation for this is that she was "trying to be different". Let me get this right. You think that Winona Ryder consciously set out to get arrested, and have a big commercial trial blow up in her face because she wanted to be different? Short-sighted. Would it not be perfectly justified for me to say Marquez is overrated if I disagree with the consensus? Am I stupid like this thread if I were to say that? Marquez is widely considered to be greater than Erik Morales and Marco Antonio Barrera, two fighters who defeated better fighters than he did. Sure, he's one of the best, I have no problem with that assessment, but he certainly never proved he was "the" best.

You're being dismissive in the "Ryder debate" and you're again being dismissive regarding Juan Manuel Marquez. You are struggling to see the opinions and thought processes of other posters who have opinions that differ from your own. You are suffering from tunnel-vision. You are fixated on the idea that by people saying JMM is overrated that they are effectively saying, "He's ****. I don't rate him. He should fight Wlad". When in actual fact all they are saying is, "JMM is a great fighter, one of the best of the last 10 years, but a large portion of Boxing fans overrate him". It's perplexing because when I read that back, it really isn't a hard concept to grasp.

Addie, Chilax dude... Barrera in your opinion is the best of the 3 and no one ever seems to fight with your opinion. Just because others have different opinions on a very "subjective" topic that differ from yours no need to go attacking them... I know it hurts JMM beat your hero as you have previously mentioned but don't let it get you obsessed... because obsession is a killer.

Also JMM has been entertaining us since the PAC fights so of course JMM will be the logical choice in a current POLL because he is fresh is peoples minds... when all 3 are retired we might get better results. Also JMM is not finished so lets see what happens.

This reminds of PAC fans being so bitter at JMM because their hero was never able to get a clear victory and they hate the fact that another man matched up to their hero... and this Great JMM goes around telling people he won both fights which infuriates them..lol


But yeah I've already told you why I believe JMM is an ATG in another thread so I obviously don't think he is Over rated... the poll had JMM winning by a couple of voted, so it was never a UD vote... if you look at the poll They are all pretty close to each other...

I was going to say the same thing. As if I hadn't stopped paying attention through the article until then, it was a Keanu Reeves moment, "Whoa....... I've seen it before......." Anyway, if I remember JMM got two points deducted and I had it a draw or one point in either direction I forget.
