Juan Manuel Marquez is underrated, he should be rated as one of the ATG

JMM is an atg in my eyes and a very skilled operator whose backfoot counterpunching in combinations made for butt clenchingly good fights.

He had a glaring flaw though ,which was that he couldn't lead too well , that did expose him to the pure boxers and fighters who weren't aggressive .

His fight with a post prime Barrera was close due to this, JMM wasn't planning on leading and Barrera had abandoned his early career pressure game in favor of boxing on the backfoot, Barrera took some of the early rounds clean but then JMM adjusted and won the fight down the stretch.

 

He is barely ATG imo. His counter punching is ATG but as a complete fighter he is barely touching that level. Floyd beat him too easy.

Canelo, Chavez and Sanchez are better fighters and stronger ATGs.

 

Any respect I had for the man went down the toilet when he came into his last fight doped to the eyeballs and covered in acne.

He's a skilled fighter, but a dirty cheat.

 

I always thought he was a little overrated. Relied on his fights with Pacman to build his resume, but he lacks the names other ATG fighters have. prime name..

 

Yes. Very good fighter. If fans are calling fighters with less than 20 fights an ATG, Marquez can be call one as well.

 

Exactly... if that first Pac fight happens to be stopped in the first round what would be his legacy?

His fights with Pac are his legacy... i loved see him throwing those nasty combos but like someone said those nasty combos were great against aggressive fighters, when faced with boxers who forced him to lead he struggled... against Floyd he didnt just lose he looked like a complete novice out there... great fighter who gave us some great fights but i think hes overrated.. hell some fools even rank him ahead of Pac FFS..

 

He schooled prime Pacquaio 4 times

 

It's impossible not to like márquez in the ring, he's amazing.

Btw, his fight vs el torito díaz is one of the best ever fought.

 

ATG chin and recovery as well as the will to win.

Only let down by massive amount of urine drinking and roids.

 

As opposed to his tattooed opponent in his last fight who is apparently terrified of needles and went up the weights like a hot knife through butter and was knocking around me twice his size like ragdolls.

 

An awesome fighter, one of my favorite to watch.

JMM is a certified ATG and I don't think this was ever in question.

 

Bruh, please stop spreading misinformation. Pac never said he was afraid of needless. Never ever. Not once. And he never had a problem with random drug testing, either.

And he has dropped/hurt every single opponent in all of his VADA tested fights. Yes, those same big men.

 

His last opponent was Mike Alvarado...a guy who roidquez knocked down to the other side of the ring with one punch...
