Juan Manuel Marquez is underrated, he should be rated as one of the ATG

Who did he beat? Kessler, Froch and Abraham.

Is Kovalev an ATG now? Ward lost the first.

Past Prime Golovkin is Canelo's (deemed an ATG by you) greatest win.

 

So based on this it seems you can only be an ATG of you are one of the top 2 maybe 3 best fighters of a generation?

So in the 80's we have Leonard, Duran, Hagler, but Hearns not an ATG, Tyson not an ATG, Chavez not an ATG.

And in the 90's RJJ, Whitaker ATG's but Lopez, Toney, Lewis, Holyfield etc only HOF's probably not ATG's.

If that's your criteria for ATG's then I can't agree with that. Morales alone has a win vs a ATG Pac on top of world titles in 4 divisions which is a feat not many have done. If that doesn't get him ATG status I don't know what does and I don't even like Morales.

 

He beat these fighters like a step child with totally domination. Skill-wise difference explains that why Ward is an ATG.

Kovalev is one of the most dangerous 175 lbers ever. Ward didn't lose first fight. He controlled the fight and won.

Like I said, he is problematic fighter for everyone at 160 in history.

 

Adapting from a knockdown doesn't mean you "controlled" the fight.
Round 10 going unfairly to Ward told everything.

Still shouldn't make Canelo an ATG. TBE took him to school.

 

I scored 114-113 the fight for Ward. And Kovalev's 113 thanks to his knockdown. Ward was ring general, landed cleaner power punches and had better punch accuracy.

I am not even getting into the judges scoring for other rounds. Round 10 was a clear Kov round. Even if you give all the close ones to Ward, Kovalev still takes the fight 114-113 if round 10 is scored fairly.
Kovalev has knocked people down with his jab. PP > Jab doesn't apply uniformly to him.

Losing to TBE is a black mark against JMM, but Canelo gets a pass?

 

Because you don't know scoring fights.

Greenish Canelo tried to outbox arguably the best out-boxer ever middle of the ring and went toe to toe first six rounds.

Marquez's a*s got spanked and beaten like a step child. This is why TBE is black mark for Marquez.
