Latest pics from Marquez's camp. I guess he's working with his mate Angel Heredia again . . .

    Hello Flea,

Please excuse my ignorance here, the whole drugs in sport thing is not an area I know much about!

When you say JMM was juiced up what do you mean?

Don't the tests pick this up?

I must admit he looks a lot biggger and ripped than I'm used to, but isn't this just a case of him being at his peak before he becomes more drawn and dehydrated leading up to the weigh in?

    Cheers :good

Standard boxing testing is worthless and will only catch a) people who **** up their cycle b) people using things like diuretics to cut weight before the weigh in c) people who use recreational drugs. This is why there is a call for much better testing in boxing, because as it is it's nothing more than a token gesture.

For the 3rd fight against Pacquiao, Marquez hired a new S&C coach. This coach then turned out to be a self confessed PED expert and dealer who has provided drugs to some of the biggest athletes in sport. In fact, he only avoided prison because he turned witness and testified against people he'd worked with.

Here's an interview with the guy, makes interesting reading:

The tests don't find anything. Steroids can be masked so tests don't pick them up and even then, the testing isn't at the right time to catch them anyways.

I don't get where all PED accusations are coming from regarding these two, particularly JMM?

I mean yeah he looks a bit bigger than usual, a little leaner too but its not exactly a mind blowing transformation. Certainly doesn't make me think he's definitely taking steroids, even though the drug testing employed in boxing make it fairly easy to get away with.

I won't be shocked if Marquez beats him again.

Manny Pac lost his last fight, and without the aid of steroids or maybe he is suffering the abuse of steriods..? He's just a small welterweight, with decent hand-speed & foot-speed, a **** defence, decent power, and a fighter who struggles to throw straight punches or co-ordinated accurate combinations

Take away this mythical bionic speed, power, and stamina..? he is a slightly ******ed fighter.

hes working with a self-confessed PED supplier and the difference between his performance against Mayweather at Welterweight and his performance against Pacman last time out is quite large.

******ed fight who just managed to school someone in a lot of people's p4p top ten? Yes he's declined but not due to "abuse of steroids" more to the fact that his style is based on explosiveness and he is aging, it happens

You cannot in any way use that; Marquez has always had Manny's number, and its mainly down to style. To paraphrase pokemon; his style is super-effective against Pacman

But that's the misunderstanding. PEDS aren't a miracle drug, they're not going make a 39 year old man faster than ever, hit harder than ever and have more endurance than ever. But they are going to help him build muscle mass to fight above his natural weight class, burn off that excess fat that is hard to shed at that age, give him more energy to train harder than a 39 year old would usually be able to, recover faster from exercise etc etc.

It's not about making a huge transformation it's about slowing down and maybe turning back the clock a few years.
