First of all, congratulations to Juan Manuel Marquez for that great KO win vs baby bull Diaz. :thumbsup

Now, to all the basketball fans here, do you guys also feel that Pacquiao and Marquez being so evenly matched up, and both at the top of most people's pound for pound lists, are kinda like the Boston Celtics and the LA Lakers of the 1980's?

One's flashy, run and gun offense, crowd pleasing, showtime.

The other's textbook, technical, fundamental and tough.

Both are at the top of their sport, positioned at 1st or 2nd, depending on who you ask.

Both have a loyal and rabid fanbase. Most of the time, they hate each others guts, but there's still mutual, if grudging respect from both sides.

Both are champs, and are always mentioned in the all time greats list.

I think Pac-JMM and Boston-LA has got a lot of parallels, it's amazing.

After a few years, when both men have retired, and the dust settles, people are gonna realize how great this rivalry was.

Let's enjoy this **** while it lasts.

I can count on my tambays to sniff out a basketball flavored thread, anywhere.

I got to watch a clearer version of this fight again.

My, umm.. cable TV connection was so blurry earlier.

    Thanks.

Some fans from either side are just so deep into their support of their respective camps that you almost cant force them to like the other team (or fighter) no matter how awesome they perform.

They might respect the other side, or think they are worthy adversaries, but they probably will never root for them when the other side's fighting for a title.

That doesnt make them lesser boxing fans. Or stupid fans. Maybe limited, yes.

But you cant question their love for the sport.

i would also likened pac to magic johnson for athleticism, and marquez to larry bird for fundamentalism
