Yes, 1 month younger but a bit more past it in ring yrs... not saying the result would have been different but you have to call it for what it was & Im no Barrera fan.

I felt Barrera fought like he knew he was winning the fight, only he wasn't, I always felt that if he would of let his hands go more, that he would of beat Marquez. Have not seen the fight since I watched it live on TV though.

Barrera turned professional 4 years prior to Marquez, and was fighting the likes of Mckinney and Morales when Marquez was busy handling the likes of Johnny Walker and Sean Fletcher. Who? Good question. Marquez has mounted a pretty good resume over the space of the last 3 years, but he was the one who had all the work to do. The likes of Barrera and Morales had already sealed her place in history with wins over one another and other quality fighters like Manny Pacquiao, Naseem Hamed, and Kennedy Mckinney.

Only when Marquez gets himself a signature win or a title at 140lbs could I entertain the idea of him being ranked above those two.

What have you got to say about people ranking the likes of Marquez over Morales, Bill? ...It's insane, no?

My mistake on the age thing, its Naz that is 1 month younger than MAB.... anyway... no spring chicken but closer to his prime & he`s still going strong as we speak, Barrera is past the point of no return.

i thought it was VERY close. barrera essentially swept the first four rounds (at least by my memory, with is admittedly ****) and I remember thinking that if the barrera point deduction didn't happen and it was a knockdown instead, giving him a 10-8 round, then it could have been a draw. with the point deduction, there's no way to score it barrera

I dont know about insane but Id definitely have Morales & Barrera over Marquez, everything considered as of right now, he`s on their tier talent wise but as you say, these guys were ATG boxing legends by the time a lot of people had even heard of JMM.

Id fancy both EM & MAB over JMM (& Pac) at their 126 lb peaks, the Morales of Ayala & the Barrera of Hamed would beat any version of JMM or Pac at 126 lbs + they had greater careers at the weight also.
