I think we should all calm down, Box101.

Marquez is a great fighter, and I've never campaigned otherwise. That being said, Barrera was clearly, and this is not a debatable topic, fighting a tougher level of opposition at an earlier time than Marquez was. Indeed, Barrera is younger, but he turned professional at 15, a full 4 years before Marquez did, and fought for his first world title in 1995 whereas Marquez fought for his first in 1999. Barrera won his first in 1995 whereas Marquez won his first legitimate World Title not till 2003.

What does this all mean? It means that Barrera came before Marquez, and that would account for him bowing out of the top level in 2007 whereas Marquez is still around. I don't know why this has been difficult for people to understand but now hopefully they'll stop throwing out that cringe worthy line, "Marquez outlasted Barrera". No, Barrera came before he did.

Is this an intentional foul from a naturally dirty fighter ( sorry but I can't help using the word dirty) or was he just going with the momentum?

Me too. It was clear to me that Marquez was getting the better of him. He almost finished him at one point, had Barrera really hurt.

Never understood how people thought Barrera won that.

:lol: Ironically, the one who looked closer to getting stopped was Marquez.

It was competitive, but JMM clearly won. I wouldn't say schooled, but both had their moments.

It was closer than the cards indicated, but Marquez clearly won the fight. He was scoring with the power punches throughout and won most of the exchanges between the two. Good fight though, pretty much Barrera's last hurrah in terms of great fights. His next one was pure survival mode against Pacquiao.

The truth of your hatred for JMM, Addie. I can see it man. Everytime you play darts you put up a poster of JMM to aim at. Don't lie:deal. You do know that I'm messing with you right lol? I agree with most of what you said and also agree that it isn't debatable that EM & MAB were tested heavier sooner than JMM was.

What fight were you watching ? That may have been Marquez's best rd but Barrera was beating JMM up until that point .I really would love to see some people's score card for this fight ..JMM's fans act like this was a Juan Diaz performance when it wasn't ..Had it not been for the point deduction it could of been declared a draw at worst ..

No idea but I know what should have been a 10/9 round for him turned out to be a 10/8 round for Marquez. A huge swing.

Relative to MAB, JMM was as fresh as a summer breeze in terms of boxing mileage and wear and tear. It is not even close.
