There is absolutely no evidence to suggest that Juan Manuel Marquez is at the twilight of his career. He arguably just defeated the best P4P fighter in the world. Casamayor is finished, Marquez is far from.

JMM coming from a loss, will challenge one of the divisions' champion. It will not be an easy task, and if he gets beaten again, then it would definitely hurt his career.:deal

JMM needs this fight and casa's been on the slide. JMM by UD. Casa pulls his punches to much just for the points. hopfully JMM can see this and counter a punch and not a flick, becuase countering a flick can get u a punch. but then again i put my money on kat and lost

many can also argue that the ring title that casa is holding as a paper title with campbell being the real champ @135. of the two remaining beltholders @135, casa is definitely the path of lesser resistance compared to campbell. casa is also considered as already old and shot so jmm should win this one handily. but casa is also a very experienced, crafty veteran that can fight dirty. he is also the naturally bigger fighter. who knows maybe he springs a surprise on jmm.

I think this will be a closer fight than most people think.. Although I'm leaning towards JMM, Casa is also a smart fighter who's very crafty, slick and can fight dirty like some people have already mentioned.. Will JMM lose power and speed moving up? Will moving up in weight affect him at all? No one has really talked about this.. Either way, I see this fight going the whole 12 rounds with both fighters counter-punching the **** out of each other.. A good fight between two good fighters, but the fight itself may not be that entertaining..

2 counter punchers by nature. It wont be very fun at all. Remember Marquez was in fight like this before against Derrick Gainer :barf I expect the same from this fight. No much action and lots of looking at each other for 12 rounds. It will be ugly as well. You can thank Casamayor for that.

I voted JMM by UD. Casa is still a good fighter however I had Katsidis ahead of him on points before being stopped. JMM is far and away a superior technical fighter than Katsidis and despite his 4 knockdowns against Pac he has a good chin.

    Press quotes:

Oscar de la Hoya – President of Golden Boy Promotions -
“September 16 is always a special weekend for Mexican fighters, fans and the public watching at home. It started with the days of Julio Cesar Chavez and then I fought seven times on this weekend during my career..”

“Now we have a great show and we expect these fighters to give us that same kind of action and excitement. There is an extra pressure to perform on this weekend but it will be memorable and historic for both guys.”

“For Juan Manuel Marquez, there is an extra pressure that you want to prove you are the best and for him being the Mexican fighter. I know he is going to come out strong and show he is tough like Chavez did, like I did when we fought on these weekends.”

“As for Joel Casamayor, his fight with Michael Katsidis is a candidate for Fight of the Year. He showed power, speed. Throughout his career people saw him boxing and now he is sitting down more, planting his feet and throwing a lot more punches and being very aggressive.”

Juan Manuel Marquez – Former Two Time World Champion -
“This is a dangerous and very difficult fight for me. I will prepare very hard for this important date.”

“Joel is a good boxer, fighter and a champion.

“This fight at 135 pounds will be difficult for me, but not impossible. I want victory for my country and my people.”

Joel Casamayor – Current Ring Magazine World Lightweight Champion -

“Juan Manuel is a great champion and I want to thank him for the opportunity to fight him. But, there will only be one winner on September 13th and its going to be me.”

“I respect Juan Manuel and also his trainer, Nacho Beristain, a lot, and I know it will be a great fight on September 13th.”

JMM UD Casamayor. Casa will have his moments. But in the end, JMM will clearly prove to be the better boxer and fighter.

This is what I call a fight.

After an epic, I expect Marquez to get the decision and put real pressure on Pacquiao as P4P#1. They MUST then meet to see who is the true world number 1!! Roll on 09!

    jmm by points..116-112

Casamayor wouldn't be KOed..even if he's shot, he has never ever loss by way of KO his whole career. The guy is proven tough and an excellent boxer.

I don't like his chances to win against jmm however..plus if this goes the distance and be in a close fight, GBP would have marquez to win in order to set up jmm for a 3rd fight with pac or perhaps guzman/nate winner.

I pick casa to win against katsidis before even though how shot and old casa is but that was due to belief of the skills casamayor possess and i know katsidis and how he fights stylistically he won't win against casa.

but this time around jmm is different, he still has fresh legs and still at his peak. I'd actually pick casa if this was like 2-3 years ago..but he was man handled against a good decent boxer like sta.cruz.

Won't buy the PPV but I would to see what may happen. If this gets hyped good then maybe I will.

JMM UD JC so Marquez - Pacquiao III gets another possibility.
