now marquez has (wisely) decided to face a more valid opponent than morales, does anyone know who is in the running?

could bradley be in the picture (seeing as khan is busy with mcloskey)?
i'm sure this could be a real possibility now.

    anyone know anything?

Bradley, Khan or Berto have been mentioned by him.

I think he goes for Bradley since he is the one with no potential matchups

I think he might defend his 135 belt again, or move up to 140 to face Khan, Ortiz, or Bradley.

as much as i would like to see Khan-Bradley im pretty skeptical that will happen in July. Come on this has all been far too perfect for boxing so far. First Khan fights Maidana and Alexander fights Bradley.

In a perfect world we would get Bradley-Khan and Alexander-Maidana but we all know thats not happening anytime soon. I think later on yes but Khan and Bradley will prbably fight JMM first. I think GBP will sign Bradley and have him fight JMM. If he beats him then he gets the recognition of the Mexican crowd making the Khan fight a lil bigger. If he loses then its a Khan-JMM fight.
Khan-Bradley possibly in late 2011 if we get lucky and JMM loses to either.

If he fought Berto I'd cry.

He should get himself to 140, there's no reason to stick around at lightweight. He should adjust to the weight so he can prepare for his final paydays with a Khan or a Bradley.

Fighting Soto or Guerrero would be fine but definitely not as exciting as fighting Bradley. I want Bradley for him next because I think he can beat him and make history while making a landmark in his career. The style matchup isn't problematic.

    Yup...

    :thumbsup

140 To bradley would be epic, or ortiz and khan.

At the scene, people are saying JMM is going to try the Shane Mosley route, become a free agent and get out of GBP to fight Pac. He wanted to fight Morales, but he didn't want another long term deal with GBP. His contract with them is ending this month.

I can't believe it. But money is money.

I really doubt he would leave GBP. It seems like too much work for a retiring fighter. Just stay with GBP and have them work out a deal with Khan or Bradley.

Its Khan !!!! , Schaefer has said on multiple occasions that he ranks Khan Marquez before Khan and any of the 140 lb'ers as the bigger fight , and he really likes it !!! , he would make Khan Marquez tomorrow if he could

It will be Khan Marquez in Vegas , in the summer , its nailed on :deal

If the JMM leaving GBP rumors are true, and Top Rank is able to sign Bradley now that his contract is up, I think we will see a Bradley-JMM fight this summer with the winner being promised a November fight against Pacquiao.

It makes a lot of sense. He keeps the Pac opponent in house.
He gets a good fight in the meantime which he can sell to the public and raise the profile of both/either fighter.
He answers the many critics that have derided the Mosley match and ripped him for not fight JMM or a more credible opponent.

Kind of interesting that he is using Pacquiao as a draw to sign fighters. This is basically what HBO/GBP have been doing the past few years. HBO gives a bunch of dates to GBP. Then tells fighters their network slots are full but go talk to GBP if they want to get on the network. Then GBP signs them.
    What goes around comes around.

ok that would be good; but i'm assuming he may fight before then seeing as he last fought november last year, so i'm wondering who could be available for that? soto is signed into a rematch with antillon. vazquez, rios and acosta are all signed into fights, up at 140 the top guys all seem to be busy except for bradley and alexander. so maybe marquez will fight one of these two prior to the summer?
