eastSideBoxer just created the poll on who's the most boring boxer and it just happened that ESByers consistently voted on PBF as the most boring boxer alongside John Ruiz or Cory Spinks. It's the members here who voted on PBF.

But why he included PBF in the list of boring boxers? ;) Tho it's not his fault PBF came out with high votes in those polls.

i don't know if it deserves to be banned. people did vote for him so i guess there's a validity of some sort. maybe he incurred the ire of a moderator when he made another poll when it was deleted.

well, if he decides to make a new handle, i hope he doesn't **** them off. ;) to be fair, floyd knocked-out hatton in his last fight. it was hardly boring.

    THE NUMBERS ARE IN....
Juan Manuel Marquez is the Biggest Mexican Boxing Attraction in the United States

    PhilBoxing.com
    Mon, 31 Mar 2008

Los Angeles ( March 30, 2008 ) - Mexican fighter Juan Manuel Marquez has become the biggest Mexican attraction in the United States as a evidenced by the performance of his March 15 fight with Manny Pacquiao at the Mandalay Bay Resort & Casino in Las Vegas, Nevada, which produced close to 400,000 Pay-Per-View buys.

The event generated over $20.2 million dollars in Pay-Per-View revenue, establishing a record for fights below the welterweight division. Marquez has now surpassed fellow Mexican fighters Marco Antonio Barrera and Erik Morales, who also faced the Filipino idol, in the boxing history books. Once the final numbers are computed, it is likely that the magic Pay-Per-View number of 400,000 buys will be surpassed.

"I am proud to say that Juan Manuel Marquez has become the biggest Mexican boxing attraction in the United States," said Oscar de la Hoya, president of Golden Boy Promotions. "The numbers for this fight are an amazing achievement for a 'lower weight' fighter. It's an honor for all of us at Golden Boy Promotions to promote a fighter who is as talented, tough, charismatic and popular as Juan Manuel. While he didn't get the decision in this historic bout, we are going to make sure he receives the recognition he deserves as Mexico's biggest star."

Lets see how JMM fares if in the PPV when he fights other than PAC.
If he fares better than Mab and Morales without PAC in the picture then indeed JMM is the biggest superstar of the PPV in Mexico.

JMM is top notch. One of the modern greats of this sport. It is a shame he is in his mid thirties, but actually he is great right now BECAUSE he is in his mid thirties. At the moment he is the #1 mexican fighter, and his successor will have a difficult act to follow.

Its going to be interesting how Manny Pacquiao does in a PPV telecast with the likes of David Diaz......

.....Hopefully Arum does'nt save Pac and brings in Chavez Jr. to fight on the undercard as he did with the Pac-Solis PPV.

.....the hunch from this poster is that without Chavez Jr. on the undercard to attract the Latino fanbase, the Pac-Diaz fight will do in about in the neighborhood of 125k PPV and maybe even less.

Pac-Diaz is simply not a PPV material.

The hunch here is that Chavez Jr. is more of a PPV sell if you match him with the same quality type of fighters.....in other words, a Diaz-Chavez fight would outsell a Pac-Diaz fight!

Yell and scream if you'd like, but I honestly feel that way.

Lets all remember that it has'nt just been Pac carrying these PPV's, he's had an outstanding dance partner in every one of his sucessful PPV's!

......so like I said, hopefully, Arum does'nt throw in Chavez Jr. on the Pac-Diaz PPV, so that we can all get a better understanding where Pac stands as a PPV sell.

I say without Chavez Jr. and or a Margarito in the picture, Pac will fall flat on his face as a PPV sell vs David Diaz!

Pac is in the same boat that JMM is, he'll do just fine with a legit threatening opponent, but the numbers will not be there doing a solo act!

When has MAB, Morales, and even Pac done well in a PPV without eachother.

.....the numbers have been pretty good when they're fighting eachother, or MAB fighting Hamed.....but other than that?????

It takes two to make a sucessful PPV is what I'm saying!

Good for him. He deserves the Money and recognition he is getting lately as his boxing career is near the end. He should also thanks Pac as I felt sorry for Marquez being underpaid throughout his career.
