You missed the rebuttal that stated that if Cortez had a thought in his mind about stopping it, that quickly went out the window when Pac hit JMM while he was down.

It seems to me that your argument is straight up WEAK.:deal

Exactly, Jones happened to hit Griffin with a shot on the temple that knocked him out.

......we can only speculate what Cortez would have done had Pac's shot when JMM was down landed in a more vulnerable spot that would have seen JMM unable to get up from it......the right thing to have done in that spot was to DQ Pac, but I doubt Cortez would have had the balls to do such a thing!

I know this is off topic but if the point was deducted and jmm won the fight, would it had been more or less of a controversial fight?

More to some, less to others. One of the few times that nationality makes a true difference.

It would have been controversial in the Phillipines, but in the US, most boxing scribes thought JMM won the fight outright anyways!:yep

Marquez shouldn't of been trying to hold himself up from going down. I THINK Marquez was trying to hold himself up for fear of it being stopped (I dont think he knew there was no 3KD rule in effect) Once he heard Joe Cortez counting, he was surprised, thats why you see him peek through his gloves when he's covering his face. After realizing Cortez is counting he gets up.

Anybody would try to hold them selfs up to avoid getting knocked down, its a natural instinct.

You dont think that JMM did'nt know that the 3 kd rule was not in effect.

The 3 KD rule is waived for every title fight, I would bet my life that JMM knew that!

It was controversial in the US even with it being a draw, that judge screwing up the scorecard was on ESPN and there was commentary afterwards of why this is one of the main reasons boxing has lost the mainstream.

The only one who has a legitimate claim they were screwed over is Pacman.
If they were fighting for a WBC belt no doubt that the WBC would of change changed the result of it to the rightful winner Pacman.

US boxing Journalist reported the scoring discrepancy, but most of those were of the opinion that Marquez had either won or drew....
....very few thought that Pac did enough after the KD's to win JMM's title!

Its the journalist job to report a scoring discrepancy, but it does'nt change their opinion of the happenings in the fight.

Look at him, he peeks his head through his gloves when Cortez starts counting. He might of known but he thought the fight was going to be stopped. That's why I said I **THINK**
