Juan Manuel Marquez Says Floyd Came In As A Middleweight For Their Fight

The 147 Floyd now, is definately bigger and stronger than the 147 Floyd who announced his retirement. In the JMM and Mosley fights, it's clear to see he's naturally grown in to a more imposing welterweight.

JMM thinking he was a middleweight on the night, really doesn't surprise me. However I'd be more inclined to say he was more of a junior middleweight. What a dirty trick he pulled with the 144 catchweight though. JMM was screwed left, right and centre that night. No chance in hell he would pose any problems to Floyd.

It makes me laugh when people try to compare that JMM win, with Pacquiao's clashes against JMM

 

Jmm is done at the elite level. still a class A fighter, but he dont belong on the p4p list anymore.

 

Hold on to that comment until after the fight. A loss to Floyd 2 div above his bet weight should not affect his standings that much.

 

The great fighters can make that leap, floyd did, pac did, odlh did, rjj did, hopkins did. jmm didnt.

 

Marquez is just a bitter old man.he cant beat Mayweather whatever weight the fight is,it's not like Marquez was landing.Besides Mayweather is never a middleweight even when he's not training so it's impossible for him to hydrate to middleweight.

of course, Floyd had a huge advantage and it had an impact.

Even with great fighters, very few can make that leap. Floyd moved up from 130 to 135, only 1 division, and look what happened with Castillo. Of all those names you mentioned, noone moved up 2 divisions after only two fights in their current division and took on a fighter as good as Floyd Mayweather right away.

Marquez' result against Floyd, after only two fights at 135 and then moving straight up to 147, is not something a "not great" fighter can do, whether 36 or 26. Marquez at least in terms of ability is clearly, obviously, an ATG.
