He looked to check with the time keeper regarding the clock, which he is allowed to do. Just like he can look away from the fighters when a knockdown occurs to get the count.

Fact is Ortiz and Floyd were directed to the middle of the ring after Ortiz was admonished by Cortez and had points deducted. Cortez clearly says Let's Go, and steps back.

Ortiz takes it upon himself to continue trying to apologize for some reason, even though Floyd has his hands up and is ready to resume, Vic pays for his stupidity and is KO'd.

Love JMM, have nothing but respect for him as a man and a fighter, but he's misinformed.

Yea, I respect JMM but the whole basis for his statement is the belief that time was not called back in. A flawed standpoint.

Mayweather's hands are up when he's close to Ortiz. Cortez clearly started the round and then turned to the table and asked if the clappers(signals there are 10 seconds left) had rung. Everyone but Ortiz was aware the round had restarted. Ortiz probably knew the round had restarted as well, but thought another hug would be accepted. He was wrong. The Executive Director, Ref, and timekeeper have all verified that the round had restarted. Ortiz lives in his own little world and paid for it. Maybe next time he'll pay attention.

The gif here shows otherwise. Mayweather walks toward Ortiz as if he's going to accept his gesture to shake hands again, and in fact what comes after this gif sequence is both fighters semi embraced.

What comes after an embrace like this is usually that both fighters step fully out and put their guards up, but instead, Mayweather eyes opened up like a hawk and pounced instantly before Ortiz could realize he was about to do that.

My point is that there is'nt any question here that Mayweather himself knew he was about to sucker punch Ortiz......whether it was technically legal or not it does'nt matter.
What matters here is that Mayweather knew before he went off on Oritz he was taking advantage of Joe Cortez' poor refereeing.

.....and then look at this same gif again, when Cortez claps to resume, he then sticks out his left hand right after as if to gesture, "wait a minute here."
Cortez did everything half assed and sloppy its grounds for him to lose his license to referee.

Nothing you describe is actually present in the gif.

Cortez has signaled the fight clearly and backs away once they are centered (fights on)

Vic walks to May and Floyd with his hands up actually taps Vic's gloves and steps back, Vic still with his hands down just sits off in space, and Floyd gets him with the hook and straight.

Nothing wrong with Cortez or Floyd's actions, just Vic's.

The highlight is key right there.
Mayweather actually did accept Ortiz' gesture and hug.
Mayweather fully went to Ortiz and both of their bodies came in contact with one another.

....as they were pulling out, Mayweather eyes open wide and you can see the expression on his face he's about to unload and sucker punch an unexpecting fighter.

.....again, the key here is that Mayweather did accept Ortiz' shake and embrace, and then schemed to unload as soon as there was an inch of seperation.
Mayweather knew full well Ortiz was breaking out expecting the ref to restart it again.

A fight that was starting to turn good was spoiled for everyone." This is the part that pisses me off. What a waste of $60. There should be a rematch, and it should free for the people who bought the fight. I just dont get why Ortiz is smiling about the whole thing. You just got sucker punched and your laughing about it. You could get killed looking at the ref with your neck all relaxed and getting hit flush on the chin like that. I would be pissed and the dude is laughing. He should have at least sucker punched him back when he was congratulating floyd for sucker punching him.

Vic is smiling because he heard the crowd cheering him and he got 2.5 mil in the bank.

That's all speculation. Fact, the round did restart(ref and timekeeper confirmed). Fact, Mayweather had every right to throw a punch. Fact, Ortiz failed to defend himself. Conclusion, Ortiz got what he deserved. Next time he won't be blatantly fouling people and dropping his hands during the round.

Im money's biggest fan but I didnt like the ending of the fight. I wanted to see money break him down and win fairly. Money is the P4P king and he should of kept his cool and punished ****** boy when he was ready.

Fact, Mayweather accepted Ortiz gesture to embrace again.

Fact, Mayweather deliberately unloaded knowing Ortiz was'nt expecting him to do so after that embrace.

Fact, thats called unsportmanlike and a suckerpunch.

Did you not see Joe Cortez jaw drop. Thats proof right there that Cortez himself was'nt expecting the fight to have resumed.........but at that point there the only thing Cortez could do was blame himself, and we all know that was'nt about to happen.

    Absolutely.
Thats the most dissapointing thing about Mayweather's conduct.
We all know he was well underway to totally outclassing and breaking down Ortiz good and proper.

.....lets be honest here, its evident in Mayweather's character that he does'nt give a flying **** about things being done proper.
