This is exactly how I see it as well:thumbsup I honestly thought everyone would feel this way after the fight but I guess its not the case.

From "fair but firm" to "senile and ambiguous"...

For the record, not mad at Floyd for doing what he did. Twas a shitty thing to do, but nowhere near as bad as the blatant headbutt.

    Thats just not true.

Ortiz was not paying attention OR he was simply not following the rules. Cortez had no obligation there. Ortiz and Floyd were supposed to be fighting.

I really think he didn't. Floyd had his gloves up and looked to me to be waving Ortiz on to fight.

Before the fight, Floyd said he would son Ortiz. Any good parent will tell you that forgiveness and punishment are two different things. :yep

I'm sure it hurt Floyd more than it hurt Vic, but being a dad isn't easy.

that's the problem. he did start the fight, yet to the very trained eyes of marquez it's as if he did not. he said let's go in a lousy manner and he was looking at the judges.

that quality of refereeing should only happen in the amateurs NOT IN ANY WORLD CLASS FIGHTS.

I highly disagree with JMM's views but I can respect them. Floyd did show sportsmanship before and after the KO with glove taps and hugs. And the only person whose professionalism should be questioned is Vic Ortiz. He shouldn't have been using his headbutts and a true professional is focused and sharp at all times. He needs to learn from Khan who quickly put his hands up to defend himself as Maidana was swinging for him when Khan offered to tap gloves.

Drama does not make a fight disgraceful. In fact it helps. The KO was legal and although Vic headbutted numerous times, at least Cortez did the right thing by deducting a point. A good example of a disgrace would be the fight between Mares and Agbeko because not only was Mares throwing deliberate low blows but the ref was clearly letting it slide each and every time. Another disgrace would be the decision for the outcome of Lara-Williams. In each of those fights justice was not served.

I honestly don't know how Floyd-Ortiz could be bad for boxing when:

-Both Floyd and Vic were not running from each other. They were trading shots (Hope you're reading this, Shane Mosley).
-Even non-boxing fans are buzzing about the aftermath which is a plus for the sport of boxing
-It's likely to generate over 1 million PPV buys
-Mayweather continues to headline papers and websites which gives boxing great exposure
-Pac vs. Floyd becomes an even bigger phenomenon because non Floyd fans want Floyd aka "the cheap shot artist" to get KO'd more than ever

it's bad for boxing because for 70 bucks people got to see a guy sucker punched and knocked out after about 10 minutes of fighting. That's 7 bucks per minute, you can get phone sex AND a cam show for less than half that rate lol

Cortez did restart the fight technically. But Marquez is right in that he didn't really restart the fight properly. He should've had the fighters separated, took the point away, called time in and then backed away and said let's fight. He was in lalala land. What if Floyd headbutted Ortiz back and then threw a right hand to KO Ortiz. He wouldn't even had seen the retaliation because he was concerned about whether the timekeeper clocked "Time in" which he didn't, because Cortez ****ed the situation up. That's why the round didn't end when it was supposed to. Failure on many levels.

Where here is Mayweather's gloves up?

Mayweather does'nt put his gloves up until he's made contact with Ortiz, and even then he's coming off having touched gloves with Ortiz.
Mayweather makes like he's pulling out to restart, and then unleaches on an unsuspecting Ortiz.

ohh please go back to the lounge and discuss Ron Paul. Floyd's gestures suggest otherwise, he was about to touch gloves with Ortiz once again which made Ortiz complacent, then suddenly he got whacked with a one-two.

Why was it becoming a good fight when Floyd was kiiling Ortiz?
Why do some say Ortiz was hanging w/ Floyd surprisngly well ?
    which is it?
How would Floyd have stopped Ortiz when his non sucker punches didnt hurt Ortiz?
Was Cortez intentionally ambiguous towards Victor?
