This is the crux of it; Marquez could deal with the speed.

I also think that Pac HAS come on since their 2nd meeting; it isn't just due to the fact he's fghting bigger, slower guys. People have a short memory; Margo and Cotto were top-notch Welters, the former is a very dangerous man indeed.

Pac barely lost a round against either.

I think the added weight will see him take Marquez out when he lands early(ish), JMM will try but he's put miles on the clock since last time.

    It needs to happen regardless.

They've been dodging him since the last one imo. JMM has made no secret of the fact he has always been chasing a 3rd fight with Pac and was willing to go to his weight to make it happen. Due to the controversy surrounding the previous bouts where most probably had JMM ahead etc I doubt people would have complained to see a third (first two were great fights which were only slightly spoiled by the iffy judging)

It would be a crying shame if it doesnt happen until JMM as past it and I truly believe that the fight will only happen once JMM shows clear evidence of ageing. Although he wants it so bad his heart might push him forward for one last good performance even if his physical prime is behind him. As you said though its a fight that must happen.

He has shown clear evidence of ageing since he moved up to 135 IMO. He has become far more aggressive, his legs don't allow him to step back out of range so often, he counters whilst in the pocket a lot more now. Fair enough, the other argument is he's 'doin' a Hagler' and not leaving anything in the eyes of the Judges post-Pac II.

I agree that Marquez has gotten the better of Pac in their two fights thus far; the third fight is essential. I also think that Pacs opposition, considering his size (it's not ALL about speed) has been dangerous enough that I don't think his team are 'ducking' Marqez.

Arum likes to keep the money to himself. If Shane was still flying the GBP flag, this fight would not be happening. If JMM left them, it would happen IMO. Roach has said a few times he'd like the fight. It sucks, but Arum is a selfish old **** I'm afraid.

Yeah..... there's noticeable changes in Marquez's style, even more so the further you look back.

    Counter-puncher turned puncher....

That said I think he's faced better opponents than Pac has since their second fight. Pacquiao's have all been picked for a reason, not because they were the champion or #1 contender in the division at the time.

I think Marquez has faced as good opposition for what he is, he's pushing it at 135 to be honest.

Pac hasn't faced 'greats' but has taken on stern challenges. In hindsight it's easy to say 'Hatton was shot, Clottey was on the TR payroll, Margo didn't have his wraps, Cotto past his best' but apart from admitting Roach is one of the greatest mind readers/fortune tellers of all time, Manny had to do it in the ring, and more often than not he went to war with bigger blokes and got it done without hardly losing a round.

I would say they're still neck-and-neck at #1 & #2 on the P4P list. Another reason why a third fight between them is completely necessary, at 140 it's one of the most attractive fights of recent years, at 147 it rounds it off but favours Pac significantly IMO, JMM has to be close to bad shape to get anywhere near there. He could probably still make 130 if he wanted to, only went up to chase Pac.

Man, can you imagine Ol' man Marquez back down at super feather? :rofl Wonder if Billy thinks Ricky can beat him? Even at his age Marquez could take all the belt holders out in just a few weeks.

If I was a boxing commissioner I wouldn't allow any of the 130lb'ers to fight Marquez.

Would be like a train wreck :-(

I mean, I like Uchiyama, but he's the best of an AWFUL bunch.

He's latter half of the top ten (maybe outside of it) a couple of years ago.

Let's hope Gamboa gets bored waiting for JuanMa and steps up and takes them all out, with consumate ease.
