Who would win this fight of two very fine boxers? @ 126. Both were capable of figuring out fighters & adapting to thier styles. 12 & 15 rounds.
Nelson over 12 and 15...Probably stops JMM over 15. It would be a great fight..Marquez would land his share of shots and probably have some periods of ascendancy but I see these being only fleeting. Nelson would be to physically strong and would grind him down taking an 8-4 type of decision over 12 and more then likely something a little wider if it goes 15..which I reckon it probably wouldnt.
Really nice matchup and not one of the one sided types usually posted. I'd go with Marquez in an upset. I thought Azumah was flat from time to time and just had a few too many non A+ efforts in title bouts. Like the Grove fight & others. I think Marquez gets a close decision win. Both guys are almost a sure thing to not get stopped.
Do you consider Marguez's fights with Norwood and John A+ efforts? I thought he looked pretty ordinary in both. Even in the Pac fight, if Nelson gets JMM in that kind of situation, he's pretty sure to finish proceedings. Nelson was a bit up and down at 130, but at 126, he was quite consistent (ignore the MD against Villasana, he clearly won that fight, and was in control the whole way).
Both guys don't always have their A game and to me anyway, Nelson had the bigger pendulum swings of the 2. If they meet 3x, neither is going 3-0 against the other.
Marquez would be a live opponent in this fight. He isnt the typical Mexican fighter either. Good boxer with good power. Nelson maybe wins earlier in his career, but if Marquez fought him around the same time as Chicanito or Leija I would go with Marquez.
hot match up honestly ..after what JMM has gone on to accomplish who knows .. the guy just keeps winning and knocking the **** outta people lol he isn't just going to war and taking decisions he's lambasting them with shots and putting them down and out .. guys who fight at naturally a weight or two above
I fancy Marquez to outbox Nelson but to get pushed hard losing rounds on workrate but landing cleaner, establishing his jab and countering to win a hard bruising UD say 8-4 or 7-5 close but clear
I believe Marquez could edge out the Nelson who came in a bit half arsed at times...but peak, fired up Zumah wouldn't lose..nah son.
