The fight will take place next Saturday in Houtston, Texas, Diaz' home town. What are your thoughts?

JMM will in fact counter attack JD. Jmm most likely will not engage in any brawls unless provoked but even then he doesnt fight on the inside and most likely he wont. JD's arms are too short to fight at a distance and thus having a huge disadvantage and his workrate will be split in half. Not having enough power to danger JMM with counter-counter shots will also be a key factor.

According to this story http://www.eastsideboxing.com/news.php?p=18843&more=1 this fight will also be for the now vacant WBO and WBA titles. Anyone else think this is BS?

Fighting for the vacant WBO title is OK because they are ranked #2 and #3 and the contender #1 is not avaliable.
But for the WBA title is BS because there is already a regular champion.

I guess they'll unify the division by winning this fight ie.winning the already unified belts. Two birds with one stone.Thats probably how the WBA looked at it and pulled a quick one.I'm glad its for the vacant WBO rather than Khan/Barerra being for the WBO like people originally feared

Correct the winner of this fight can rightly call themselves the man in the 135lb division

As one who generally abides by The Ring's rankings, all I need to know is that Juan Manuel Marquez is their champion at 135. Nevertheless, it only helps the magnitude of this bout that Juan Diaz, with the departure of Nate Campbell to 140, is the number one contender. This should be one hell of a fight. I just keep waiting for Marquez to fall off at his age, but as long as he hasn't, I have trouble seeing anything but a clear decision for him.

Yeah but the WBA already has a 'regular champ' Paulus Moses, its not really fair to him if they just jump him and fight for the Super Belt just like that. I too dreaded the fact that Khan/Barrera might have been for the WBO title :-(...

I'm just saying what they should have done is make it for the WBO title and the winner to fight Moses for the Super-de-duper Belt, unless their planning to let Moses fight the winner :???:.

I don't think that will be there plan tbh.The winner will probably vacate the WBA if it meant fighting Moses with all due respect but there are bigger fights inc Hatton/Pac winner

I have to ask...why is there a "Super champ" and a "Regular champ"?

Can anyone give me a legit explanation for that or is it just one of those sanctioning bs deals?
