Juan Manuel Marquez vs Prince Naseem Hamed

It would've been even worse than what MAB did, to be honest.

 

JMM is the worst possible matchup for Hamed. I know Hamed has a strong chin but I still would never rule out a stoppage, especially when you add Hamed's bad balance into the mix.

 

Naz took Stewards advice.More than once.

 

You think so? I think it would have taken Marquez longer to get into the groove and start finding the right opportunities for hard counters. Barrera's superior jab really opened up opportunities for him when he stepped leftward with it, especially the left hook to the body following the right hand.

How do you see it going down? Do you think Hamed would have leaned into something devastating that Marquez, as a more natural counter-puncher, would have taken better advantage of?

Hamed probably has early success, possibly dropping and hurting Marquez (can't rule out a KO either, but that's punchers talk). Marquez starts timing Hamed, and picks up a clear victory (can't rule out a KO or stoppage either).

 

I can see JMM stopping the prince around rounds 8-12.

 

There was a very good reason why the WBO kept JMM away from Naz.
Naz was one of the WBO's top earners at the time(maybe the #1) and they knew a clever counter puncher(and bear in mind JMM was a totally different fighter back then) without a widespread fan base could spoil the party.
And they hadn't bargained on just how much MAB's style had changed,and I think that played a part in him relinquishing.
And before anyone starts crying,I don't think for a minute that it was Naz himself who was ducking,so keep your wigs on.

marquez is patience and once naz cant land them big shots he gets frustrated and starts clowning around knowing he cant win the fight on just his boxing

 

I see JMM taking over in the second half of the fight and winning a unanimously agreed 8-4/7-5 type decision. Those saying JMM would have ko'd Naz, probably haven't seen Naz's career properly. Dude had an excellent chin and suffered his knockdowns due to balance and leaving his chin out in the air. If half the fighters today fought like that, they'd have had their lights put out.

But if the prime version of Naz turns up, then it would be a lot closer. JMM isn't hard to find and with Naz's alien power, you just don't know what could happen. Still would pick JMM, though. Bad style matchup for Naz.

JMM counter combos would surprise Hamed, specially that Hamed is notorious of being poorly balanced. Hamed would be humiliatingly be getting knocked down repeatedly due to poor balance. JMM UD Hamed.

It's a bad match-up for Hamed... Hamed would take advantage of fighters that opened up on him... it's more complex than this, BUT, if u held ur hands up ,one could litterally render Hamed ineffective ... can u imagine Marquez, the master boxer aginst a guy who's reckless and unbalanced like Hamed... the last guy to get reckless with Marquez was Pac... and we all know what happend there.
