Even at Hattons stellar best he would lose to Marquez, his style suits Marquez down to the ground. If the fights against Pacquiao and Mayweather didn't show you anything about what happens to Ricky when he tries to muscle in on a good counter puncher then imagine what the KING of counter-punching in the sport today will do to him. Face first into the turn-buckle AGAIN. I wish Ricky would retire and stick to his promotions.
hatton has always been a solid B level fighter who beats other B level fighters urango, malanagi and (a shot) casillo, the one exception was kotya stzyu. JMM is without question a top teir fighter and he would defenitly beat hatton.
Collazo isn't one of the best fighters in the world... Ricky lost to him too. Shitty decision, Hatton was well beat.
Hattons style will give no problems to a great counter-puncher like Marquez. Sure Ricky is one tough dude, but Marquez is too accurate and will land too many solid shots. Hatton will be broken down and disected, I see the fight being stopped by the 7th at the latest. Collazo and Lazcano both got robbed in their fight against Hatton.
At this moment at Hatton's career i'll have to go with marquez , but , prime for prime or conversely Hatton's prime against marquez' peak of weight hatton is too big , strong and well chinned for marquez , so hatton. don't forget marquez visited the floor 3 times in 1st rd in first pac fight , unlike an even faded hatton and visited it again in their second fight. don't underestimate hatton and don't underestimate pac who must be regarded as p4p #1 today.
I like Hatton, BUt his one advantage we all gave him was/is his so-called weight & mauling. (But in his fight's Vs. elite comp, has paid no difference) For that reason & his obvious decline, I'd take the smaller JMM to possibly even score a K.O. Uppercut style.
I'd rather see Juan Diaz vs Hatton to be honest, think that fight would be a war. JMM beats him quite convincingly, maybe even stops him late.
Me 2. Diaz Vs. Hatton would be fireworks.. (I'm looking foward to how the kid looks @ +135lbs this weekend)
Around the time Ricky beat Tszyu, I would take him over JMM. But not now because I feel his punch resistance has dropped dramatically. A sharpshooter who throws every punch in the book is completely wrong for a face-first brawler like the Hitman. JMM by mid round TKO. I don't think Ricky would last as long as Juan Diaz because Juan actually has a decent guard when he's attacking.
