    15 round fight

Although it may look like a long shot for Marquez, i believe he has the style to cause Duran some mid round problems.

If hes able to catch Duran on the counterpunch as he is backing up he could potentially disrupt his rythm, but he would need to move constantly keeping away from Durans onslought, and invite him in in order to counterpunch him. The problem for Marquez here is that Duran was brilliant and slipping punches while moving in so Marquez has to time his punches perfectly...something that hes actually good at.

It is a difficult fight to win for Marquez, if he wasnt so prone at getting knocked down and engaging in firefights then i would actually give Marquez the nod. But as it stands:

    Duran late TKO

    your thoughts?

This is actually a better fight than many may see on the surface.

Marquez was very skilled at disrupting a fighter's rhythm and his ability to adapt midfight is pretty solid.

I still think Duran beats him, but @ 135 JMM makes him work for it.

Marquez indeed could hang tough with Duran, but it's hard to see him or anybody else besting Duran at 135.

 JMM vs. Duran is a slaughter. :patsch

Considering Duran could do everything better than JMM and was naturally larger I can't even see this fight being remotely competitive. JMM was challenged by Juan Diaz and Katsidis at lightweight. Duran stops him in 7 rounds or less.

Big fan of JMM but he gets tortured & smashed to bits & drowned under a tsunami of violence but brave till the very end. This is not the wide open lunging pacman he's in with, it's a pychotic slickster. Pick a middling from DeJesus II or III fights for the mode of execution employed:yep

    Duran UD, 146-139 or so.

A fascinating fight in which Duran is always ahead, but would struggle on occasions with JMM's counter punching and ability to make adjustments.

How come everytime Duran is put up against a modern day fighter people come out with bull**** that he would simply smash through them. It bollocks to me.

your blowing this out of proportion.

JMM is an able fighter, he might lose and get knocked out before round 7 as you described but there is no way he wont be competative.

JMM skillset would cause problems for Duran and thats a fact

I've grown to hate Marquez.I know it's unfair, but i can't help it.

How anyone can think his body of work and talent displayed at 135 makes for intriguing fights with all-time greats at that weight is beyond me.

So he can still throw nice punches.Big ****ing deal...stick him in with Hector Camacho or Jim Watt or someone. And that's hardly an insult, at least then an intriguing argument can be made within reason.

Correct you do talk a load of bollocks when you make statement's like "Modern Day fighter" as if Duran's era was 1 million years BC & the minor fact that he's recognised as one of the greatest lightweights of all time, so what the **** you talking about zombie???

It won't be competitive my ass. Duran beat Juan ****in' Diaz at Lightweight in a war for the ages. Seeing as Duran is basically a primitive old-timey version of Diaz, he won't be able to contend with Marquez's newer, more scientific boxing methods. Nobody even knew how to throw a proper punch until about 10 years ago, anyway. Did you see in that one fight when Duran threw a sloppy punch? That kinda **** would get picked off and exploited by even the most basic contenders today. Boxing has evolutionizized, people. It's time to accept it.

As a matter of fact, I think all of us new-time, non-senile fans should gang up together and make a pact. If we can't get the old-timers to commit to our scientifically proven method of thinking (as proven by the fact that trackstars today are running fractions of a second faster than their counter-parts from 50 years ago) by the end of this thread, then we all commit suicide. What say you guys?
