You're not intrigued when he fights Pacquiao, who will be historically ranked higher than Duran? Dummy.
The thing is that Marquez isn't a natural lightweight, in his prime years he campaigned in the lower divisions because they were more natural for him. Duran is an animal during his lightweight years. That being said, I don't see Duran blasting him out early. Stylistically, Marquez might frustrate Duran at times with his counter-punching but I see Duran eventually grinding him down for a 9th or 10th round stoppage.
To anyone saying this wouldn't be an easy fight for Duran... - Watch Marquez vs Juan Diaz 1 - Then watch Duran vs deJesus 2 and 3 Then come back to this thread and issue a full written apology for your utterly unacceptable behaviour.
I was just ****ing with Duranimal. Of course Duran wins at 135, JMM is half the fighter at 135 he is at FW. But Pac WILL be considered a better fighter than Duran 10 years after he retires, that's just a fact. Eat it.
This is where I post, baldie. Stay in your domain with the rest of the cretins lest you continue to make a baby's ass (you're bald) of yourself.
I really don't understand why you keep commenting on my appearance. Do you judge all men by how they look? Do you have a vagina, perchance?
Katsidis is a much better infighter than Diaz and Marquez did much better in that fight, relying on an inside defense and looking better due to his further adjustment to the weight I think. I actually watched Duran vs De Jesus 2 the other day thinking of this match-up and while Duran is as impressive as ever on the inside, I noticed his rhythm and pace match up very well with JMM. Duran can both pressure and box, but there would certainly be spots where JMM's timing would be able to offset and frustrate him with outside counters and inside combinations. It would by no means be an easy fight. People's assumptions that JMM is overrated often seep into their judgment of talks like this and end up shitting on his skillset.
I think there is just a big gap in how the ability of Marquez is perceived by some. He's in that bracket where opinion seems to vary wildly, even in classic to say nothing of general.Tony Sibson is a bit like that....ah, if only he had been fighting Pac instead of Hatton.... BAck on topic, see someone like Dejesus, to me would do a napoles-Cokes-esque number on Marquez at lightweight. He's got better physical ability, integration of offense and defence, legs/footwork, power, jab and isn't really trumped in the key area of Marquez' quality fluid textbook punching.126 marquez vs 135 Esteban would be fairly equal for effectiveness, at 135 Dejesus left-hook straight right combos were a heavy handed killer, and superior. All this and the man was spent after 6 rounds of hard-fought infighting, though he bravely tried to adapt showing a versatility and mobile finesse Marquez has never really had. Fair enough if anyone thinks Marquez can land some good shots or do well for a little while, but most fights have moments and rounds of relative competitiveness, even most of the widely acclaimed clinics etc.....doesnt meant they weren't still one-sided when looking at the whole picture and hardly anyone seems to think he can come close to winning the fight.
