Defense yes but JMM gets underrated on defense, JMM has excellent timing too though so thats close, balance I'm not sure. Arguello certainly has the better punch technique and more meaningful punches

JMM has great offensive technique and a great mentality.

Lets not pretend he has a good defence and is a masterful alll round boxer though.

Boxing is such a fickle sport so I'd never bet big on it no matter what, but I'd say I'm 90% sure Arguello beats Marquez at 126.

Didn't an old Barrera outland him? Not exactly a good sign. I thought Norwood hit him plenty and Pac, for as quick as he is was rather one dimensional in his attack so I don't think that tells us much. Arguello has much more punch variety than the Pac Marquez fought.

Those guys were quicker than Arguello, but Arguello is the master of timing.

Maybe Arguello doesn't hit harder, I personally think he does somewhat, but again, like I said, it's about timing. I expect Arguello to hit Marquez more than Pac could, and cleaner.

Marquez fights at one gear whilst Arguello shifts pace as the moment calls for it. That's the reason I feel Marquez appears quicker.

The key is Marquez just being too similar in his overall offensive approach.

He's not going to outbox Arguello in a million years if he wins it'll be because he outpunched and outcountered him with his cultured textbook offense, while takign the incoming better and winning a battle of attrition, as both will be getting hit.

No way he should be favoured over Arguello with both trying to do similar kind of things.

As much as I respect JMM,I believe that Alexis' class would be too much for him.At 130,Alexis had brilliant power and could box with the best of them.Plus the size advantage would result in an Arguello victory in about the 10th round.

Marquez is not outboxing Arguello, he might try and outpunch him as he advances but i still expect Arguello to be more effective, he can definitely hurt his man and doesn't neglect the application of pure pressure at it's meanest once he has. There'd be great exchanges, and Arguello is better at 130 btw, clearly.

Arguello would have lacerated JMM enroute to a ko.
