An older version than the one that beat Hamed

secondly, triangle theories rarely work in boxing.

    JMM gets knocked out

You must be about 12 to call people ****'s and actually think it's insulting to an adult. You also have 26,000 posts so I imagine your social and work life is riveting.

So rather than post extremely witty comebacks why don't you give an input. How exactly does JMM beat Hamed? Just because I'm British it doesn't mean I love all British fighters. My all time favorite fighters are Oscar, Duran, morales,Barrera,Tyson. No mention of any Brittards I'm afraid.

No Hamed hit alot harder than Pacqiauo and seeing as Marquez wasnt hard to hit or drop, Hamed puts him to sleep.

Marquez for me the same way barrera got the job done. I think naseem for all the talent and entertainment value he had got exposed at the very top level. I dont buy into the he never trained was drinking wasn't listening to steward etc etc. I think it was always going to happen.

The problem with guys like naseem is there sublime when things are going their way but as soon as they know they're in at the deep end they dont want to know.

Naseems career was a bit of a waste, he could have went after the big names...but instead was never happier than when he was beating on a guy that was about 3 levels below him...as soon as a real challenge came up...he crumbled and that was even before he got to the ring against barrera. He was just the better boxer. Naz had power but it was nothing that barrerra, marquez, pacquiou etc etc couldn't deal with.

They all have power...you find that the power shots he landed throughout his career against lower level guys dont connect nearly the same against the elite world class fighters your in with.

They would all have been smart enough to respect his power...and if you take that away from naz he would always struggle against a great fundamental boxer with good timing which they all pretty much had.

Naz was up there...one of the best talents britain produced in recent years. But Barrerra/Marquez/Morales/Paqcuiou were just better and there's nothing on naz's cv to suggest otherwise. Although i think he'd have the best chance of taking morales out...due to the fact he cant help himself not getting involved in a tear up. That would have been an unbelievable fight

Another excellent incite full post by boxed ears, really makes visiting this forum worthwhile. Your boxing knowledge is second to none.

I do think Ali beats Wlad. Believe it or not the man (Ali) ranked top 3 all time by most people with half a brain cell would quite literally destroy the man who was dropped numerous times and eventually stopped by Corrie Sanders!!!

Anyway I'm at work and I think it's your bed time so night night little boy and remember when your mum gives you a kiss at bedtime, no tongues!!

I tend to take fighters' claims about being sick/injured with a grain of salt. We hear it a lot. I thought the Medina fight though was a good example of Hamed's power. Although he was winning, Hamed was looking real sloppy, Medina was hitting him with good shots, one of them knocking out his mouthpiece. But his power was just too much, and stopped Medina in the end.

When Wayne McCllough praises you for your power, then you know you can hit. Hamed was a very hard puncher.

I agree. I'm not sure about him totally dominating, but JMM wins a decision.

Hamed went into a shell when he was getting outboxed by Barrera. He seemed happy to go to the distance, meanwhile just looking (hoping) for a bomb to bail him out. Nothing new to see that in fights.

I think Hamed goes into a bit of a shell here as well after eating some hard counters. Marquez wasn't always as hittable and offensive minded as he has become in recent years. He may have never been a defensive whiz, but I think he had enough defensive skills, ring smarts, and chin/recovery to avoid getting hit with too many bombs from Hamed.

I am not a fan of Hamed and a big fan of Marquez, but think at the time when that fight was being mentioned, Marquez had yet to do much and Hamed would have been a massive step up. Remember how Marquez was beaten by Norwood then? At FW, I think Hamed would have knocked him down and won on points.
After Marquez had developed as a FW, it may have been different, but at that time...

Hammed lacked Pac's speed and chin ( pac used to have a very good chin). Hammed had so many fundamentals deficiencies that he was able to overcome due to the level of opposition that he was fighting before Berrera. He threw his jab out of position and when Barrera countered with his own jab, Hammeds head was bouncing all over the place. Marquez would have have countered Hammed and eventually timed him with a knockout punch. In fact I think this fight is a mismatch in Marquez's favor.

Agreed, Hamed poses a stylistic threat to JMM. Very unorthodox, throws shots from odd angles, quicker hands and feet. Similar to the threat Pacqiao posed in their first fight. They're both southpaws, however Nas has power in both hands and hit just as hard. Arguably has a better jab than Pac as well. Marquez was down 3 times in the first against Pac, and I'd back Nas to get the job done if he hurts Marquez. JMM's tendency to get dropped against top opposition doesn't bode well from him here.

On the flip side, Marquez despite being dropped 8 times (I think) has got up from every single one, and either won or made the fight close (except against Floyd, but Nas is a level below Floyd) so arguing a case for JMM is understandable, especially if you consider his adaptationall skills.

If it goes to the cards it's anyone's fight, I'd probably give Marquez the slight edge, but I think Hamad has a better chance of either forcing a stoppage, or dropping marquez a few times on route to a close points victory

There's a reason Stuart suggested Hamed avoid marquez.
