Alright this is my first thread. First off, i would like to state that after seeing that fight....wow.

That was one of the most brutal knockouts I've seen so far in 2008(even though it's early).

I was wondering if this then puts into consensus that he is ready to climb back into the thick of things with the top of 140?

Also I was wondering if these tantalizing match ups would hold ground

    Paulie Malignaggi vs Juan Urango
    Junior Witter vs Juan Urango

YES, we all saw what Ricky did to him but he does seem improved and he was severely green when Ricky fought him.

How do you think he would match up against these two, or even other top light welters currently atop the division?

Let's keep this intelligent and insightful ladies and gents'

Paulie walks circles around the robot Urango. The KO is impressive, but it doesn't make Urango a contender. He has serious flaws, most notably he doesn't work behind his jab enough. The man has captured the attention of the boxing community now, so he will get his shot a top of 140. He ultimately won't stay there very long.

Urango improved? I did not see the KO but from what I have seen in the past this stiff was not in the elite class. He will have to produce something magical against an elite class fighter before I get excited.

Yea. I agree with you however** if he can learn to utilize his jab, he COULD prove to be a force though.

Witter and Paulie are all wrong for this guy, both would be wide points decisions.

You have a very solid point, Vilches was no bum however.

He was a C+ - B class opponent I would say. He was improved but, still needs abit more speed, and to use his jab.

I would have to see some big improvements, other than utilizing his jab I'd like to see his punches straighten out, which would improve his speed. I don't know, to me he has too much to improve on to become a major force. If he can and he delivers knockouts like this against some major competition, I'll gladly eat my crow.

Urango would be out boxed by Witter and Pauile. If Hatton - who is genrally a very good brawler - outboxed him then so will Witter and Paulie who are more boxers than brawlers.

His foot movement is too slow to keep up with the faster witter and Paul. I don't see how he would pose much risk to either baring a huge mistake from the titlists.

Too flat footed and too reliant on his power. Against Hatton, he looked sluggish and although he caught Hatton with a couple of good shots to the body, he dint look too clever in there. Witter and Malignaggi would run rings around him to the point where it will be embarrassing. There are far better contenders out there for the champions, I'd like to see Reyes, Malignaggi, Witter and Hatton fight a 140 pound tournament for the undisputed crown.

Whether that will materialise remains to be seen. Juan Urango on the other hand, is nowhere near the calibre of any of the top 4 140 pounders today.
