Caballero has agreed to fight in PR ... he's been calling Juanma out ... now I hear that Juanma is asking for 1m, a bit much considering that he's a super bantamweight ... thats alot for a lightweight. thoughts?
Boxing is a business, so these guys try to get all they can while they can. In regards to the division/money thing, I think it's bs, we watch boxing for entertainment and most times the little guys put on the best entertainment. Just my 4 pennies.
you are absolutely correct. we do watch boxing for entertainment. and we want the best fights available. and as paying patrons we deserve the best fights available. we the fans are to blame for these fighters thinking that they are worth millions without having paid any dues. because fans buy into the bs. promotion of a fighter and dont care who he fights as long as they see their favorite fighter in the ring. (case in point) how many credible oponnents are there between juanma, berto, and valero. but they believe that they are worth big money fights. it is time that we as fans stand up and make fighters earn our dollars. damn what we think they are capable of. much more respect is due to the fighters who had to grind their way to where they are today than to those who are coddled and think they deserve our hard earned cash.
I think YES since JuanMa is fighting Mtagwa next instead of unifying with the WBA and IBF super bantam champ, Celestino "THE TOWERING INFERNO" Caballero...
Arum is his promoter so the odds are they are ducking...Arum has already said that he wont be fighting Gamboa. They (Arum) will keep keeding him b level fighters just like he always does, after a while he will start to claim that people are ducking the kid...Same fomula different fighter.atsch
Do some homework... "I told Gamboa if he's successful in July, we'll bring him back in September in Madison Square Garden in a co-feature, and we're gonna keep building him. And the fight I'd like to make down the line that would be absolutely huge would be Gamboa vs. Juan Manuel Lopez." - Arum on Latin Fury
i will give you a bit more caballero gamboa was almost done until he signed the co promotion with arum. at which point all negotiations ceased.
Hundreds of fights get 'almost done' in boxing sadly. Arum probably told Gamboa there's more money vs. Lopez...which there very well likely is. I'm sure most people would do the same.
I don't blame JuanMa for seemingly avoiding Caballero... Many super bantams avoided Caballero... Caballero is a high risk, high reward boxer... Props to Molitor for accepting to unify with Caballero tho got humiliated in the process... .
Juan is being protected, and that is a damn shame. Why they are not trying to unify sbw is beyond me. Arum is the scum of the earth.
