Late Sunday night in Las Vegas, Nevada, undefeated WBO featherweight champion Juan Manuel Lopez touched down to officially mark his arrival for his November 6th bout with former two division champion Rafael Marquez. Lopez will continue his training tomorrow at the Top Rank Gym as the Marquez clash inches closer. The two men face off at the nearby MGM Grand.
Lopez is coming off of a stirring 2nd round TKO over brave but outmatched Bernabe Concepcion in San Juan, Puerto Rico in July. He captured his WBO belt with a seventh round stoppage over Steven Luevano earlier this year and is widely regarded as one of the rising stars in the sport and one of its most complete, all around champions

Marquez is known best for his thrilling wars with friendly rival Israel Vazquez and showed tremendous heart, power and a deadly attack while campaigning at 118 and 122 pounds. Now age 35 and fighting in the featherweight class, Marquez is certainly the underdog heading into the contest, as the 4-1 odds working against him have shown.
If successful, Lopez could very well find himself against WBA champion and Cuban standout Yuriorkis Gamboa in spring or summer of 2011. Both fighters are promoted by Top Rank and itÂ’s a contest that Bob Arum has been milking for quite some time. But first Lopez needs to handle his business against Marquez which is far from an easy task.

    :blurp

Still no news on UK TV coverage for this fight...............its fookin criminal:twisted:

Yeah, Rafa said Nacho was spending too much time with JMM and not enough with him. Think Rafa is with Daniel Zaragoza atm.

I love Rafa and he would've schooled Lopez in his prime, but the Vasquez fight was a smoke screen, he's on the edges of being washed up imo. JuanMa will have too much for him at this juncture and the Bobfather knows it.
