To be fair though it isn't a newer thing. If two guys are nearly equal but one guy is younger and more marketable..well...you do the math.

HBO will jump at the opportunity to have Izzy Vasquez vs JuanMa Lopez...we'd probably have to watch Vasquez/Caballer on Versus.

A JuanMa/Vasquez fight isn't a problem(although I suspect the trilogy took a lot out of Izzy). However, a JuanMa/Marquez fight is pointless. What would be the point of JuanMa fighting Marquez if he beats Vasquez?

There's always Showtime. The Vazquez/Marquez trilogy was on Showtime. Caballero just beat Molitor on Showtime as well.

i come from the old school. and the best fight is the man who has done more to earn the shot. the sport is better when we actually have the most deserving fighters facing each other.

there is a difference between what is good for the sport, and what is good for television.

tell me which fight is better for boxing as a whole. margarito - cotto 1
    or dlh pacquaio

Juanma is definatly no *****...And you will see him dispose of the 2 older, more worn fighters (Vazquez and Marquez)...None of the 3 "nosellestino" has "called out" are ducking Caballero...He's on a ego trip cause he k.o.'d a weak hitting, scared fighter in molitor...I believe juanma disposes of molitor before he can adjust his trunks in the 1st rd...Wait your turn "nosellestino" your not a big name and you just beat a an even worse noname...Noone fears crapallero, he just has to wait his turn like everyone else...Nocellestino will get what he's asking for before 2009 ends...

Caballero aside, Lopez against beats like Marquez and Vasquez garuntees us some fantastic fights in 2009.

Side note: It's interesting how everybody feels Lopez will walkthrough both Vasquez and Marquez. I can tell you, he won't.

i honestly think lopez vs. vasquez/marquez will be war...
I just dont see the self proclaimed "warrior" caballero lasting more than 9 rds. against lopez...I saw his jab sit there against molitor, he would eat lopez's right hook over that slow jab and eventually get stopped after eating too many of those right hooks...Caballero has a David Haye mouth at 122pds...Someones gonna shut him up...

Lopez did to De Leon exactly what both Vasquez and Marquez would have done, in my opinion.

Lopez is a great talent and a huge puncher, but to think he walks over top 10 p4p fighters in Vasquez and Marquez is ludicrious.

As for Caballero, the man has just defeated Steve Molitor, who was mostly untested, and now he can walk over the best in the division?

No matter how many times we are reminded, styles make fights, and beating Molitor isn't the same as beating Vasquez or Marquez. Different fights, different outcomes.

it is obvious you don't know anything about the situation with celestino. he beat pdl in an eliminator for the ibf title winner to face izzy. izzy was with gbp at the time gbp found a way to get the ibf to order another eliminator. celestino won again. so instead of fighting his mandatory. izzy vacated the ibf, and fought larios for the wbc.
so he has more than waited his turn, and has done more than juanma at this point in time.

I really dont care what order they fight...as long as they all fight...it still doesnt change my opinion...Lopez would have a way easier time with caballero than with Izzy or marquez...

"If everything goes well with Medina, the plan is to fight in March of 2009, then look for Israel Vazquez in June. I don't see myself fighting Caballero. We want Vazquez for the summer in Madison Square Garden on the eve of the Puerto Rican Day Parade. We are going to take things step by step. If we beat Vazquez, the next logical move would be to fight Rafael Marquez in November or December,"

Reg, this in noway means "he wants no part of" caballero, it may just be a way to contribute to the PR vs. Mex war...Maybe he wants to get a little revenge for PR after what margo did to cotto...He might just be wanting the big stage to do his part and face it right now Caballero is not as known as Vasquez or Marquez even if he has more belts...
