Rabbit punches, low blows, hold & hit, go in with the head, just too much of the unnecessary in a great fight. He is an excellent punching machine with a warrior heart, but reminds me of the young Cotto, going dirty when hurt. He lost a point for the rabbit punch, but also got half a minute break to survive the round. Bad boy Juanma, don't do such things! Great fight between an old and a young warrior, only if it was 100% clean... Anyway, superb weekend, and it's just the beginning of a series of great Saturdays!
I am not a hater, I am a fan of both. But nuthuggers will deny ignoring the fact that Lopez was in the most serious trouble of his career in that round and Weeks interfered, spending one minute with a point deduction. Is it true or is it not?
nope you're a hater because your opinion is bias.. he's not a dirty fighter but he's a fighter things like that happens when you're fighting but trying to make it seems that he goes into the fight with a plan to fight dirty is just jealousy and hate.. but is ok fans are like that they can seem to see the faults of their favorite fighters and find a bunch of faults on the other fighters they dont like :hat
I agree with the low blow bit and holding hitting, but the rabbit punches were Rafa's own fault by constanly ducking low. After round 2 it looked clear to me that Lopez (not Jopez) should resort to uppercutting with his left while keeping his right hand high, he started uppercutting both hands from round 5 on (don't know if he figured it out or his corner) resulting in no more rabbit punching and the fight went his way. If he only figured out keeping his right hand up also he wouldn't get hit with those vicious lefts.
I don't think Juanma fought dirty. I think he fought a little bit stupid, but not dirty, at least not anymore than Marquez who was punching on breaks, hitting low and giving Juanma the side and back of his head to not get hit flush on the chin and complain to the ref. You can see it in Juanma's body language that this is just a sport, he was the one to touch gloves in which Marquez seemed not to have any interest in doing, during warnings or anything Juanma always wanted to touch gloves and Marquez looked like he didn't want to show any sportsmenship until a few rounds later. I'm not criticizng Marquez just pointing out that they both did things that could be pointed out but neither deserves to be called a dirty fighter. I always try not to be biased, but I really don't think the point deduction was necessary. Mainly because it happened during an exchange in which once again Marquez was bending his head down. Worst things have happened while fighters are knocked out and sometimes get away with it. I don't think Lopez really threw rabbit punches, it was just that Marquez defense was making them land on the side of the head. Having said that, I think it was a very good fight in which Marquez looked very strong and gave Lopez some good experience. I worry about his right shoulder because I was wondering why he wasn't throwing his right hand as much, and I think the inrujy may be legit and the fight may have been different if this was the case. I hope a rematch happens to give both Marquez and Juanma a chance to prove themselves a little better. I say this is because it is very common that in some fights certain variables go wrong and the other fighter wins, and later on the rematch the fighter that was injured or cut in the first fight seems to seperate himself from the other as the better fighter. I also didn't really see any big aging signs from Marquez, I think he's still a very good and elite fighter.
i was impressed at Marquez's strength taking punches. And Lopez is still wild reminds me of the young Pacquaio.
This. It's easy to accuse him of the rabbit punches but in the ring everything happens so fast. You try to punch the other guy who is constantly ducking low. you don't have the time to think where are you going to hit him.
