What do yall make of this BS move Floyd's pulled? are people going OTT or valid complaints? For me this is the problem with catchweight fights. I've said it for the last 6 weeks that Cotto has no business in coming in at 145 vs. Manny. Just scale on at 147 and take your fine because no one will call off the fight. Well the Southern California boys at Wild Card Gym, who have a lot of political clout, got the organization to issue a diamond belt prize on this so they forced Cotto's hand. But in this Mayweather/JMM fight, you're seeing the paradox associated with catchweights and its wild west loopholes.
He looks the goods at the weight division he is in at the moment. Fights against Cabalero, Gamboa, Chris John, Rafa Marquez, Israel Vasquez are the interesting ones to talk about at the moment. Its way too early to talk about Guzman and Valero. Both are beatable, but I can't really see anyone "****ing up" Guzman. Plus Valero is a massive punching LW, and there's no way of telling whether Lopez can take his own power up that far to be competitive with the Venezuelan. Right now though Lopez is the pick of the boxers in around Feather and Bantam.
I do really like the guy and always stay up if he's fighting as he's a fantastic talent. That said, people need to chillax on the hype at the moment, IMO. Like everyone else, even though I think Juanma wins, I still want the Caballero fight to be made. Then afterwards maybe Izzy or Rafa. Then we can judge just how good he is.
It was more because you listed Abner Mares as 1 of 3 people who could handle him. Juanma would beat Mares to death
I cant wait for his fight against Rogers Mtagwa. Mtagwa v Villa was one of the fights of the year during 2008
Juanma is a very compact and technically sound fighter who is crisp with his shots and when on form can look devastating. My problem with him is he's started to get into that horrible habit of loading up and getting wound up when fighters don't go straight over. I think he needs to continue to develop in some more learning fights before going into the deep waters. I'm not saying he should be fighting guys with the record his next opponent has but people like Penelosa are fantastic to learn from and pad record as well. Imo as a boxer he seems to struggle with lateral movement he cuts the ring off but seems to lean in with shots if you don't stand in front of him....he can also smother his work. He's very compact style wise he turns the shoulder and limits the amount of body that can be hit...it's a joy to see...his last fight i was dissapointed with him becoming ragid but i think that fight was what he needed. I read yesterday he will fight Caballero in January so he will be ready for that fight imo.
Yeah Juanma is class and Even do Im irish I think he would batter Bernard Dunne, could be a fight of the near future.
Quite looking forward to it. Gonna be in NYC that weekend so as a boxing fan it would be daft not to go and experience the Garden. Never been to any venues over the pond before. Just bought a random $50 ticket so dont have a clue where I'll be sitting lol.
