Perhaps the only time I will agree with you. I think Gerry actually has a good chance in this fight, because he is technically superb.
nah im going to just have to be nlunt Garry is going to get KO'd and bad. this fight will leave people wondering if Lopez is as god as he seems or is he just freezing people before he fight them.
I saw Gerry's last fight, and if he's going to fight the same way against JuanMa, I'm sorry to say that Gerry will lose by UD. Especially if JuanMa decides to fight conservatively and box and win on points, I think Gerry's chances of winning will go lower. Penalosa's great, but he's just too darn small. He throws great combos but it always seems to miss the target by centimeters and only grazes his opponent or he doesnt connect solidly enough. Especially if his opponent employs the stick and move tactic. If JuanMa tries to impress his hometown crowd and he aggressively goes for a spectacular early KO win, I think Gerry's gonna have a better chance to win. But once JuanMa feels Gerry's counters, he'll realise that sticking and moving and winning a comfortable decision would be the smarter and easier plan. I mean, if a rough, ungraceful caveman like Daniel Ponce de Leon can keep Gerry off of him by jabbing and moving, then just about any long and lanky top level boxer can too. The odds and the percentages point to a JuanMa decision win, but I'm hoping for Gerry to win though.
I work on logic. Gerry Penalosa has never been knocked out, in his long and impressive career, and he will be the most skilled fighter that Lopez has ever fought. I have great admiration for Lopez, and this is reflected in him being number 9 on my P4P list, but this is a step up from his other competition. Expect questions to be answered? How will Lopez deal with a fighter who can avoid his power punches? How will Lopez deal with potentially going 12 rounds? He may pass them with flying colors, Penalosa might be just far to small, but I bet you that this fight goes the distance.
Good post, but I don't envision Lopez "sticking and moving" under any circumstance. He has been knocking fighters out all over the shop, Penalosa is battle worn and the much smaller man. In fact, I think Lopez risks being embarrassed if he starts to "stick and move". It just won't happen. He's young.
Even though I'm a big fan of Juan Ma, I find it hard to believe he KOs the superbly finicky and extremely crafty Gerry Pensalosa. It wouldn't surprise me if Pensalosa makes JuanMa look god awful sometimes. He's older and a little slower but like Hopkins and Winky Wright, the guy is hard to hit cleanly. JuanMa will certainly land his big punches at one point but in my estimation a KO is out of the question. It wouldn't surprise me if it looks like Erik Morales-Daniel Zaragosa without the KO ending.
just because some one has never been Ko'd doesn't meen they can't be . look DLH, MArgocheato the list could go on
