He's a name opponent for up and comers to put on the ledger, a test to separate the men from the boys, maybe upset a prospect or two. The top level guys will beat him ten times out of ten if he steps up to this level.
One of the biggest problems facing Judah is that the welterweight division is so deep. He can't beat fighters on the level of Cotto, Clottey, and Mayweather and there are a few more fighters on that level like Williams, Mosley, and Margorito. He just cant beat those guys. He still fits in with the second-tier guys like Berto, Cintron, Quintana, Collazo and a few others. If he mixes it up with those guys he'd get better results but smaller paychecks. What Judah needs is a win over someone with a name instead of being the name for someone else's win.
If I was a diehard fan of Judah, (he can't have many), I would be praying for him to move down in weight.
Judah is still a talent but he is clearly not the fighter he was. I like Judah but he seems to be nearing the end of his career. He looked great in patches last night but he was wide open to right hands ALL night and he was visibly shaken on a few occasions. I hope Judah doesn't become a gatekeep and I don't think I'd describe him as one now. He fought a guy who appeared a lot bigger and stronger. Clottey gave Margarito all he could handle as well so he is no mug either. Clottey will give anyone a tough night and that turned out to be the case last night. One thing was clear is that he will be more effective a weight down. If not, I'd love to see a rematch!
