+1 The fight will happen, and it will sell out the ScotTrade Center...DKP knows it will line his pockets and give Dev a little more 'cred' before lining up another superfight. Zab would also be a good tune-up for Devon, and will keep him active while he waits for the results of Campbell/Ortiz and Malinaggi/Khan. The Bradley fight is 2 fights away (at least)...
Alexander-Judah in St. Louis makes a lot of sense and I would think that fight gets made this summer. Judah will help sell tickets, be a good name on Alexander's resume, and shouldn't pull the upset. The fight makes sense for both guys. Bradley and Alexander will probably fight seperate fights this summer. Alexander-Judah and I'm not sure who Bradley faces. Then they could meet at the end of the year or maybe both in seperate fights later this year and they meet early next year. If they both meet up undefeated and with three belts on the line then this has the potential to be a big fight.
Devon will beat Judah just as bad as Mayweather did, he has no mental fortitude and once the fight gets rough he can't respond.
Why does Judah get all these chances ? Baldomir beat him then he gets a mega fight on PPV vs Mayweather the p4p number 1 fighter at the time. Mayweather beats him up despite Judah throwing an intentional lowblow. Next fight up he NC with a bum that sets up a PPV title shot vs Miguel Cotto. Cotto damn near kills him then Judah beats 2 bums by decision then gets a PPV showdown with Mosley that falls through and he gets a title shot vs Clottey. Gets beat down and basically quits then fights 2 bums and now hes getting another title shot ? Hell his resume pre Baldomir is pretty **** for a guy who consistently gets big fights. 1-1 with Spinks who is good no great and a win over a green Junior Witter who is B level are his claims to fame.
Quit? He won either the 7th or 8th round. The fight was stopped by the doctor very early in the 9th round. At the time of the stoppage the difference on two of the scorecards was one round, and that one round difference was likely the shortened 9th round. I thought he showed a lot more focus and grit against Clottey than he had against Mayweather or Cotto. And I thought that a lot of the reason he had problems at 147 was due to how easily he seemed to get pushed around by the larger, stronger guys in the division. If he can comfortably make 140 and stay focused he could do some damage there.
theres no way goldenboy will let khan go for any of the names you just mentioned at the moment. He needs to get a few more experienced wins under his belt before they let him in with the bigboys. I reckon Alexander would beat all of them though, but imo his hardest fight there would be Bradley or Khan :good
I like this fight, - It allows Devon to get a name on his record, because wether right or wrong, beating judah at this stage is still meaningful in the boxing world, and it will help Devon become a bit more known as Judah is still a name, and will be the biggest name hes fought yet. I think this will help Devons career regardless of how past it or how undeserving Judah is. - I am actually going to be rooting for Judah and if he wins then hes back in the mix again... And i actually think hes got a good chance in this fight, i hope he looks his best and doesnt show any signs of having slipped because if not i actually do think he can pull this off. We will see, im looking forward to this fight.
How funny that just awhile ago it was Judah fighting guys like Pineda, where he was the 'young' one fighting the past it older vets..... its so crazy to me that now HE is that older vet against the younger champion.... A very interesting dynamic that its hard to get used to having watched zab for so many years lol....
Anybody with a brain knows Judah quit in that fight. The doctor didn't stop the fight cause he feels Judah couldn't continue, he stop it cause Judah wanted to stop it. And Clottey should have reward a tko win cause the cut Judah got was from an uppercut.
Lets not forget the round before the stoppage Judah was even on the cards and at best he was down by 1 point further signifying that he'll make you work for your win. Despite Alexander being a fresh young talent, I favor Judah in this one, not as a sentimental pick but because he'll clearly be the best fighter that Devon's ever faced. Remember the big fight offers are falling off the table. He needs a win bad to keep himself relevant. Otherwise even Don King won't be able to sell him.
