Who would win this one? Zab Judah or Ricky Hatton? Just trying to come up with a compelling mythological match up, seriously who takes the cake?
Hatton would win in a late KO or by decision. Judah has repeated often that Micky Ward was his hardest fight, and Micky almost KOed him and broke his ribs around the 8th round. Hatton is a step above in skill and is faster than Ward. Hatton would win this , although Judah would look good for about 4 rounds. ( I would love to see a fight with Ward vs Hatton though)
Outside of that left hook to the body in the 8th by Ward, that fight was a pretty one sided win for Judah. That fight was also fairly early in Zab's pro career and the difficulty of that fight was having to fight through being badly hurt which he did. I just don't see that particular fight having much to do with how a Judah vs Hatton fight would go. I see this more of a pickem fight. I could see Hatton wearing out Judah with his relentless pressure and physical strength but I could also see the faster and deadly punching Judah catching Hatton while he is coming in with a counter right hook. Definitely an interesting fight between two elite yet somewhat flawed fighters.
Damn true - That Ward shot to the liver is legendary. He was tough as nails and a hell of a fighter in his own right. But, that left hook to the body was unreal.
great post. But, I would add that Judah got tired as a fight would go on ( he had stamina issues). Hatton would keep coming. But, I agree, this fight would be a real fun one to watch.
Interesting to see everyone going for Ricky. He never looked good against southpaw. Eamonn Magee gave him all He could handle, Collazo schooled him and got robbed - and We know what happend against Pacquiao. You could never underestimate Judah's ability to blow it, so maybe Hatton could grind down a win if Judah faded - but early on it would be all-Zab with Hatton walking into punches, almost certainly getting cut and possibly hurt too. At his best I'd favor Zab.
