Canelo and GGG are getting a second chance. So should Adelaide.

In fact, I hope someone at ringside is holding a big “Free Byrd” sign during the fight.

Better yet, assign her to judge as a late substitution and let her make a big entrance with Lynard Skynard’s “Freebird” as her walkup song.

You don’t care about Farmboxer, stop playing the innocent card. You are very contemptuous when discussing him.

If both Loeffler and Canelo's team have the right to object to the suggested referee, why is this Bob Bennett dude so outraged by it?

Stay in your lane Bob Bennett.

Ive been here since 2002, he's been here since 2001 when this site first started. I especially care about all the original members including Rumsfeld, Kirk, and even Lance.

Lol that’s ridiculous thing to say as Canelo wouldn’t travel anywhere,I get what you’re saying and being realistic but don’t find this sport pathetic and how we all as fans just accept this crap like it’s expected.

So not only is the only judge who scored the bout for GGG returning for the rematch, but Loeffler's objection to Weeks as the referee resulted in Esteves working the bout.

For all the talk from GGG fans that Golden Boy and DLH hand pick judges and referees, it seems clear that the only side influencing who is working the match is Team GGG.

That said, personally I'm not the biggest fan of Tony Weeks, and it's for a different reason than ya'll who mainly cite the Kovalev Ward 2 stoppage. My beef with Tony Weeks goes back to 2010 and his refereeing in the Jones Hopkins rematch. Weeks was highly influential in Hopkins victory, as he saved Hopkins from knockdowns on several occasions that other judges may have given Hopkins a count. There were 3 instances that Hopkins went down on borderline shots and all 3 times Weeks gave Hopkins 5 minutes instead of counting him out, and one of those times he actually deducted a point from Roy Jones.

Had there been another referee in that fight, a Roy Jones that everybody thought was way past it may have actually stopped or beaten a Hopkins that was still seen as a top fighter, which would have been a major upset. And even if Hopkins had gotten up from those borderline knockdowns, multiple 10-8s for Jones may have been enough to see Jones eek out a decison even with the heavily pro-Hopkins judges cards that night.

That said, although I was very critical of Weeks that night, each of those possible Jones knockdowns of Hopkins were borderline situations and both guys were in their 40s at the time so I really didn't consider Weeks corrupt or even a bad referee. And generally I think Weeks is a solid referee. I just think he's been the referee in some fights where there has been some hard-to-see close calls, where he had to make bang bang decisions that could have gone either way.

But given the outrage over the Ward Kovalev stoppage, justified or not, I can understand why some GGG fans who also may be fans of Kovalev don't want him to be ref for Canelo GGG 2. And as someone who thought Roy Jones may have beaten Hopkins in the rematch if it wasn't for Tony Weeks, I think its probably a good idea for him to not ref this rematch, however that said, it's important to point out that it was Loeffler who objected to Weeks, not DLH, and this idea that Golden Boy hand picks judges and referees and has influence over who is chosen, well that's clearly not the case, at least for this fight. If anything it's the other side that is asserting its influence.

So with that said, given Loeffler's objection to the referee, and Moretti's apointment for the rematch, who I consider a good judge but the fact remains that he was the judge who scored the first fight for GGG, I just don't want to hear any bitching about the judges scores or the refereeing from GGG fans in the rematch. GGG has his judge, his referee, and now we're hearing that Loeffler even objected to Canelo's gloves which Canelo apparently is not allowed to use now.

I mean lets just call a spade a spade, no matter what happens or how this plays out, Team GGG has been allowed by the NSAC to stack the deck against Canelo, have gotten pretty much everything they wanted, from getting a better split, to their preferred judge returning, to their referee. Team GGG are clearly acting like divas here and are being rewarded for complaining. Lets just be clear that the deck has been stacked against Canelo here in the rematch. Loeffler and Team GGG have gotten their way, they've diva'd their way through this, to try and give themselves a better chance vs Canelo, not the other way around.
