Is Hatton being judged on his performance against Callazo a little to much. In that fight Hatton did not look good and won by a slim decision thanks to an early knock down. But you have to give Hatton credit for standing until the end(would Mayweather have done that if he was in that kind of trouble??) maybe. Hatton's trainer says that hatton was not fully prepared and he was against the fight but obligations to HBO made him go ahead with it...these are all excuses every fighter uses when they are not up to par. Hatton did fulfill his obligation and did not duck out of the fight. Hatton has also fought in his last 5 fight's either against a world Champion or a former champ...that's got to be worth something. Although I am a Hatton fan I will concede that Mayweather is a better boxer and has unequaled skills, but Hatton has integrity and character and lot's of determination which mayweather will find a difficult task to deal with once they get in the ring...i am not saying that Mayweather will not be able to deal with it...only that Hatton will not be the push over that some people think he will be against Mayweather...If they are basing it on the Callazo fight. Also another curious observation is that before every fight including his wins over Kosta and his last fight lot's of threads stated that he was in over his head and would be beaten badly, then he wins and the threads say that he fought washed up fighters or fighters way past their prime. I don't want to knock Mayweathers victories but ODLH was semi retired and Flyod also said himself that Gatti was a club fighter or C or B fighter when he fought him...Dan Rafael. Mayweather is a great fighter and Hatton loves the big fights so i think it will be a great fight and one boxing fans will appreciate after the final bell.
I have a feeling about the 10th round floyd's leg's will be gone and he will be in survival mode and hatton will catch floyd going back with that left hook to the head midway through the 10th or the 11th round.
I wish you guys were right, but predicting a Hatton victory is an exercise in wishful thinking.Yeah, Hatton has done this and that, but against Mayweather he'll be taken out of his game like everyone else. Floyd will win a unanimous decision.

Good post. Hatton is defenetly being underestimated prior to this fight. I belive Maywheater has the best chance of winning, but I also belive he is taking the fight too lightly. Hatton might be his toughest opponent so far and also has a good chance of winning, especially if he is being underestimated.
I have seen the comment on a few websites Brits saying PBF is taking Hatton lightly. PBF and his Uncle Roger Mayweather, Leonard Ellerbe and Al Haymon might be many things but 1 thing they are perfect professionals. Why would PBF take Hatton lightly or underestimate him when he does not take any opponent lightly always coming in excellent shape. Is this wishful thinking of Hatton fans hoping against the odds that Hatton can pull it off. I like Hatton I think he is a great lad and a genuinely nice guy but in my opinion (as someone who has watched a lot of his fights and at ringside for his greatest victory against Tyzu) he is in over his head in this contest against PBF. PBF has beaten a lot of pressure fighters/Mexican and Mexican style fighters. Uncle Roger Mayweather alias "the Black Mamba" was also known as the Roger "the Mexican Killer". I think Team Mayweather see a lot to exploit in the "Manchester Mexican/Hitman" Hatton and in my view this will be a comprehensive win for PBF. Hatton is good but from a fighting perspective it bad matchmaking for him but obviously great for his wallet.
what people dont understand when judging that fight is... almost NOBODY in the boxing landscape is going to give hatton the same problems that collazo did 147lbs and under besides maybe margarito and williams of course. margarito because of his size, and williams cuz of everything. Collazo is big. Collazo is a southpaw. Collazo was able to withstand a lot of what hatton did because of his size, and adding his boxing skills ALONG with his southpaw stance he was able to cause hatton some trouble. Contrary to belief... collazo punches nicely, and of course he puts his punches together nicely. Yes mayweather is a better boxer. but imo, hes not as big nor has the southpaw stance to trouble hatton eather. Hatton should be the underdog of course, but people discredit him too much imo for the collazo fight... which... he won.
Just out of curiosity. Does anyone think Mayweather might fight from a southpaw stance when he fights Hatton?
I agree and disagree with what you are stating, I believe that PBF and his trainers will be ready and fit for this fight and that he has handled pressure fighters before but I also believe that he will get into some trouble in this fight and that hatton's team have studied this and will try to exploit it to the max, and I also believe that PBF may panic if this happens, Hatton does impose his will on his opponent when he is on his game. So here is a question to think about if PBF get's in serious trouble does he have enough in his mental makeup to deal with it? We all know he has the skills. Also we know Hatton has had to deal with that kind situation before.
I was thinking that myself. I mean, if he started the fight off as a southpaw, everyone is gonna know staright away that he was somehow, afraid of fighting Hatton. But, if after 7, 8 or even 9 rounds have gone and the fight is pretty much level, I could imagine him switching to southpaw just to snatch the win.
I have no doubt that Maywheater will be in physicall shape, but I don't think he will be mentaly prepared for a fighter like Hatton. Maywheater is always in great shape but he is way too self confident. A great fighter should fight and prepare like he is the underdog.
you guys are all ridiculous for even considering mayweather as anything but a very serious professional. he will go about his business of training properly, executing his gameplan, and beating ricky hatton convincingly. Hatton might land some body shots, but nothing mayweather hasn't felt before and from stronger boxers. Just be objective and realistic. Hatton isn't jose luis castillo from 2002, he isn't even jesus chavez, who mayweather also destroyed.
